We just need more stories like this. A Doctor Who season doesn't have to have 20 episodes per season, a few are enough. As long as they have cool concepts behind them. This is a great example of a good Doctor Who story, not babies on a ship with a budget monster.
Honestly, i would wait 3 years for a season if it were filled with cool concepts. Episodes like Blink, Midnight, Listen and Heaven Sent are the one's making Doctor Who the greatest show. So take all the time in the world, just get us unforgettable stories, we've all been missing the Doctor for way too long.
Less of the magic and fantasy, more of the sci fi, this really put me in mind of Turn Left, one of my favourite episodes of all time, it had that bleak, what if vibe to it.
I finally felt that we got to know Ruby, she's been decent so far, but she hasn't had a chance to shine, here she shines brightly, Millie Gibson, you nailed it.
This is the first one in a long time that I cannot wait to watch again and again. Why are the Doctor light episodes always so good.
Finally, the legendary brilliance of Dame Sian Phillips is in Doctor Who, wishes can come true, she was terrific, loved that whole creepy bar sequence, being a very proud Welshman, there are a few pubs like that.
Fabulous.
10/10.
Creepy, atmospheric and pretty well told. I felt a cold shudder when I saw RTD appear at the start as the writer but happy to say as a stand alone episode I will remember this pretty much for years to come.
It followed a similar theme to the girl who waited. Where that episode frustrated me and I thought was over the top, this didn't seem to be as grating and silly. Like that Millie got to shine and I hope this is a trend that will continue. Having seen the preview of the next episode, it doesn't look anywhere near as good but fingers crossed.
Please don't _ it up. From dedicated new Who watcher.
What was the reveal? Like what actually happened? Why did everyone run away from the woman? The Doctor knew about that prime minister so is that still going to happen? Was there a curse and if so what actually was it? Who is Mad Jack? Was he dead and came back? Or did he just not exist and breaking the circle created him and created that timeline?
I'm glad RTD is stepping into the supernatural though instead of always keeping the reveal "oh it was this random alien."
Too many unanswered questions to be a 10/10 but honestly such a solid episode.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaAt the 25:24 mark, there's a QR code on the table at the cafe. If scanned, it will now take you to the BBC Doctor Who website. Originally, it was redirecting to the set designer's own website.
- ErroresThe Doctor asks Ruby what year she is from, and she replies 2024, which is the year the episode aired. But Ruby actually entered the TARDIS on Christmas 2023.
- Citas
Mrs. Flood: Having a nice time?
Ruby Sunday: Yeah, I'm just speaking to...
Mrs. Flood: You're standing in the street on the phone to your own mother?
Ruby Sunday: Y-Yeah.
Mrs. Flood: Nothing to do with me.
