Episode #1.2

Poor Priti Parmar she met with a gruesome demise. Still her eyelid moves and they were sewn shut. This could be straight out of a Thomas Harris novel.

Harry Virdee is not sure if Priti's death is a gangland killing or some kind of ritualistic one from a would be serial killer.

Priti Parmar was good time girl who had moved to Riaz Hyatt's gang. She was previously with Vasil Shala.

Now Hyatt plans reprisals against Shala and not wait around for brother in law Virdee to get back to him.

Over at the hospital, Virdee's wife Saima is looking after her estranged father in law after his heart attack. He does not recognise her.

Well at least the crime part is interesting. Staz Nair's acting is a weak point though. The Virdee family squabbles does not mean much to me.

I'm not of the view that Asian interfaith marriages are a think of the past. Just look at what kind of government is currently in India.

I just think that the Virdee domestics takes too much screen time and is not even that interesting.

The killer strikes again, this time targeting Priti, a very strange calling card is left, which proves the killer is a twisted individual. Priti's death could well spark a war between Riyaz and Vasili. Saima has to put aside her personal grievances, when her father in law is rushed in.

I am definitely still getting Luther vibes, not just the action and visuals, but the pacing and tone also.

I enjoyed the first episode, I thought this second episode was better, more accomplished. This was exciting, very gritty and dark, The BBC doesn't seem to do these dark and gritty dramas so much now, think back to the days of Luther, Waking the Dead etc.

Scenes of the killer preparing for heaven knows what, and that whole thing surrounding the wasps, that was grim. I am definitely reminded of Silence of the Lambs.

I have to highlight the terrific Performance of Aysha Kala, she was great here, Saima was really put in an impossible situation, trying to do the best for her husband, whilst having to care for an in law that hates her.

Is Harry going to end up in the middle of a turf war? It does seem likely.
