- TriviaFor Drew Barrymore's cameo, Parker Finn explained that the idea came about as part of an effort to conjure what he referred to as "credibility" for the story's lead character. When the audience meets Skye Riley at the start of the story, we are meant to recognize her as an established, world-renowned star and that's something you can simply sell by having her be interviewed by a well-known real-world talk show host. In Finn's words, "I really, in building this pop star of Skye Riley played by Naomi Scott, wanted to lend credibility to the character and sort of blur the lines between reality and fiction and make her feel almost like she really existed in our world. And so I had this idea of introducing her on a talk show, but I was like, I want to do a real talk show." Drew Barrymore has been hosting The Drew Barrymore Show since 2020, and Parker Finn said he wrote the early scene with her in mind. He wrote to her, including the script pages, hoping that she might take the part, and he was delighted to get a yes. The writer/director continued: "I love Drew Barrymore and I wrote the scene and then I sent it to her and I also wrote a letter to her and she was so gracious and said yes, and it was it was such a like fun dream to get to work with her and to do that."
- ErroresWhile the film takes place in New York City, when Skye and Gemma are driving out of the city to Staten Island, the very last part of the shot is with mountains in the background...clearly upstate NY where the movie was shot.

Smile was a creepy horror film that didn't freak me out but created a lasting impression for its originality. Consequently, I was waiting to catch up on Smile 2, especially after watching the intriguing trailer. Any celebrity scandal real or fake is engrossing to watch as audience particularly if there is a supernatural twist to it. I was eager to see how Parker Finn handles this subject with all the hype that's surrounding the sequel, and I have to mention, he didn't disappoint.
Naomi Scott is stunning as Skye Riley and the huge plus to Smile 2, is the songs that she has sung for her character. 'Doctor, I need a new brain' stood out the most for me with its captivating choreography. Her acting exhumed the delusion that Skye was in, and considering the trauma behind the character, I'm concerned about Naomi's mental health seriously.
Technically as well, the film was a masterpiece. The upside down drone shot of the towering NYC, the camera shift during the conversation between Skye and her boyfriend in the past where they are directly facing the audience, the nightmare sequence exhibit fresh ideas of making audience uncomfortable by using camera movements.
The writing as well didn't leave out much space for cliches. Dancers' chase, Speech mishap and hospital escape sequences were top notch. However, there were some pitfalls that made go 'meh' as well.
Logic is not a fundamental element of horror films but it still forms the crux of any story. Towards the end of Smile 2, we became as confused as the Skye on what's real and what's not, and the last sequence happened out of nowhere, that's the point when the quality of writing took a dip.
However, Smile 2 was an impactful watch as intriguing as Smile 1, especially with a fatal twist that leaves us aching for Smile 3. I'll definitely be watching that film in theatres.
