Foreigners Only

More than good short horror, tool of a powerful message about Bangladesh social reality.

A tannery worker searches an apartment. The landlords refuse him for the poor aspect, obvious skin desease but, in special, because the rent is only for foreigners. His profesion suggests to poor man a solution to solve this problem. A naked form of discrimination in farmacy offers the occasion to put the solution in fact.

And it works , unfortunately, more than well, being the way to obtain not only the key of apartment but the interest, maybe affection to, of his ex girlfriend.

Exactly the social message matters and it is served by story and image, not ignoring performance, in inspired manner.

Great special effects and the final pay off jokes are awesome but the lead up is kinda meh. You can skip it if you are in a rush. But the idea is simple. Horror film for the first 13 minutes and the last minute is a comedy. Interesting take on the way Westerners are perceived in eastern cultures. It's obviously a metaphor for preferential treatment. I would've liked to see the lead actors rules reversed, though, I think the casting would have been better if some actor choices were changed. Also, the two female leads should've been changed. These are just personal preferences, but either way kind of cool. The credit sequence was actually the best part of the entire film. It looks like a hard-core band album art.
