The first three underwhelming-to-bad episodes of this season really made me question whether at long last, Rick & Morty was out of ideas.
Well this episode puts my fears to rest. This is your classic Rick & Morty setup. Take a premise that only a mentally ill person would think of, and then spin it out chaotically but not just chaotically - with a purpose.
The purpose? It's a parody of capitalism, definitely. Also of...vegetarianism? 70s dystopian sci fi? Mealy-mouthed hypocrisy? An argument in favor of a certain level of dishonesty to maintain any semblance of civilization?
The point is, Rick & Morty still has it. There is hope they can make it to ten seasons without totally running out of steam.

While the episode itself wasn't quite in the top 10, I think this represents a recommitment to the morbid nihilist humor that made the show so popular in the first place. The series never really shied away from shock humor, but season 5 showed that shock alone doesn't make great entertainment. Season 5 was all shock, no humor. Season 6 was all humor, no shock.
It really is a ray of hope to see this show has found a way to make the macabre and absurd feel smart again, even if the episode didn't have any moral to the story. I had a lot of fun watching this one. It definitely seems adult swim was leading with it's weak episodes this season.

Wow, I had a great feeling at the end of this episode. Reminded me of how this show felt during the first seasons. Great story, pushing some boundaries and for bonus points a BEAUTIFUL musical number.
The new voices were almost indistinguishable. Didn't notice anything out of place. When you see a whole episode and don't get reminded of the change I think we can safely say we're over that hump.... I really like these standalone story lines, especially if they're done this well. The season started kind of shaky but there has been a slow but steady line of improvement and I hope they can keep it up.

When the plot and storyline is good, you dont even notice the voice change that much. This episode was great and probably the best of season 7 so far. I loved the concept of it. This was the first episode of season 7, which had both rick and morty for a substantial amount and I was invested in the plot. So, the voice change didn't bother me.
Also loved the message behind the episode. How ignorance is a bliss. We people always talk about humanity, morality .........but only it doesn't directly affect us. We just intentionally choose to ignore the problem when it affect our own lives. Who cares about what's happening far away for us ? Let's just enjoy our spaghetti, right ?

This episode is what I expect when I go to see an episode of Rick and Morty; not just another random intergalactic/interdimensional adventure. Throughout the series, I've seen the moral and philosophical dilemmas dealt with in a dynamic and entertaining way and that's how many of us got caught up in the series. So this episode is what I've been waiting for for a while: a story that provides more than just empty entertainment, that takes on a sensitive subject and yet doesn't seem to give you any food for thought, but does give you a sense of what the writers think about it. It feels like the first seasons.

- TriviaSummer asks for "parmeesian" cheese to put on her spaghetti. This is a nod to the family still being in the dimension from Solaricks (2022), as Rick notes that one of the only differences is their pronunciation of parmesan.

Rick Sanchez: Life itself is wrong. And that means death is right. But you can't side with that. So you live. Even when it means eating.
