Plenty of great performances and gripping storylines
I've been a big fan of the Count of Monte Cristo since the Hollywood adaptation and so when I saw this series advertised I was excited to give it a try. I was not disappointed at all. The first episode I was wondering about the acting in parts but you always get that pilot type episode where everyone is getting settled in and by the second episode I was hooked. Im ashamed to say I haven't read the book and was basing all I knew of the plot on the movie. I love how this was so much more twisted and much more story driven, you can really get into the heads of the characters and emphasise with their emotions. This is much more drama than action I would say so dont expect any crazy sword or gun fights.
I would say the cutting of some of the scenes where it would go to different characters was a little off at times. But this was infrequent and you can look past it and Sam Caflin was great along with many of the other cast members.
