Best of the Best

Cobra Kai is now starting it's last lap after a marathon run but has annoyingly been split it up into three parts. I was surprised by this final run as I genuinely thought the last season was it all wrapped up, but the producers clearly feel they can squeeze more out of it. So how was this part one of three of this extended final season? Unlike many other self styled online media commentators, I very much loved it and very much looking forward to the forthcoming installments.

This is clearly a show that is tying up all the loose ends, with friendships, relationships, work and post-school thoughts at the forefront. Then there is the hidden menace of Kreese! There's still much to ponder as well as a new mystery, and yes some characters go back to being at each others throats despite old hatchets being buried.

The show retains its humour with the long suffering Amanda Larusso as bewildered as ever on being stuck in this 'Twilight Zone'. This has been a slow burn of a season, and is the better for it. Johnny Lawrence is to be a dad but remains immature whilst Danny Larusso is still not as balanced as he thinks he is. Yet we all still love the emotional ride.

The stunning thing is that this show has retained it's quality in writing and humour. There aren't many series in the past generation or two which have maintained as high a standard as this. Give or take some ropey moments, the show managed to just get back on track and keep us hooked.

I feel the reviews on here are a bit biased. I've been watching since 2020 and I can say for sure this is not that great at all. It's so boring and predictable. As soon as Kreese met up with Tory it was obvious what was going to transpire. The whole season has been lacklustre and it's just getting dragged out now. I love Cobra Kai but it should have ended last season. Those saying it was a shock ending, it really wasn't at all if you actually have a bit of intelligence. It's turned into a soap opera and at times it's good but mostly boring and predictable. I hope the next 10 episodes are better but I do worry.

My spoiler... Cobra Kai (Kreese Japanese version wins) Silver comes back in the next 5 episodes. In the last 5 Kreese redeems himself by saving Jonny from Silver and Miyagi Do win overall. It's so obvious.

Absolutely blew me away after the painfully bland episodes I had to bare previously. Peyton List's performance was phenomenal, I really love what they did with Tory's character and it just brought me back to why I loved this series in the first place.

Finally the character's stories are going somewhere, finally there is conflict for this season and it is the strongest conflict they could have chosen. And finally the camera directing is not nauseatingly bad. I am really annoyed they waited this long to drop these banger episodes and hit us with a cliffhanger and 4 month wait for the next part of the season.

Peyton is going to go places with performance like this and I wish her all the success she has been working for.

Cobra Kai season 6 Part I culminates with an 45 minutes long epic masterpiece of an episode! It rounds up the character development perfectly. It sets up the greatest conflict of the entire series. It gave me goosebumps and took my breath.

First, Tory's transformation was written perfectly. Letting her fight Sam, who has become a friend to her is even more heartbreaking. She lost her mom and just wants to fight, to process it. La Russo tries the Miyagido way, but this does not work. Lawrence understands her, but he couldn't prevent her leaving. Kreese, like always, is there to claim the reward.

But the main point of this episode is the clash between Johnny and Daniel. Throughout the whole season their was some conflict. It seemed they overcome it, but that's not true. Seeing them splitting apart was heartbreaking. The whole point of Cobra Kai is to bring them together. Once enemies, they become friends. That's what has to happen! And I dearly hope they will make it!

Now we have Robbey and Sam as captains. A perfect fit, since Robbey is Johnny's son and Sam is Daniel's daughter. Hawk is joining the team aswell. I hope he and Dimitri will find back together aswell.

Puh, let that sink for a moment. After season 5 I thought that'll be it. But Cobra Kai returned and lost nothing of its glory! And that's a huge compliment to the showrunners! Many shows returned for a last season and destroyed their legacy. Not this one, trust me.

I love Cobra Kai, but it definitely peaked third season. Everything after that was pretty good but this is horrid. I called every plot point an episode before it happened, plot holes are almost unlimited, and it's just repeating storylines. I'm genuinely getting tired of Netflix butchering things this bad. The only redeeming hope will be stranger things 5. Now it did have some okay parts which is why I gave it a six, but this series is starting to over stay its welcome. I hate that it has to go but it's looking bad from here on out. I also have to say that we already know the winner, and that's how bad this is.
