I thought that if Rose wasn't in this season it wouldn't have worked but her being in season 2 was the absolute worst thing. She wanted to go back to California many times and they should have sent her back. Please don't include her if there's another season. She really doesn't have nothing to do with a night agent. The first episode of season 2 was great after that it took a turn for the worst. I'm not sure how Rose gets to make a lot of decisions when she doesn't have any training. Oh and the subtitles throughout the whole season was obnoxious having to read a lot during the whole season. I didn't like having to read so much.
Here we are at the end of season two with Peter and Rose reenacting that famous Rick and Ilsa scene from Casablanca. How did we get here? Well, a series of fast-paced action scenes...err wait, did I say fast paced? Actually, this moves at soap opera speed but is interesting nonetheless because of the way the characters and interconnections of the "subplots" play out. Moreover, new characters and their backgrounds are added along the way.
This series, as with "The Last of Us" (which is actually based on gameplay) follows a similar pattern where our characters move from situation to situation including committing inexplicable blunders and bad decision making which leaves us shaking our heads. We, however, are satisfyingly caught up waiting for the next "shoe to drop" so to speak. Some might prefer this be movie length though.
Perhaps sort of a spoiler alert if you read further....
Anyway, it's all fun as we are left wondering what is in store for Season 3 and which characters will ultimately return. Baffling though, is the premise (and final discussion between our protagonists) regarding the question of Rose's safety should she be involved with Peter or not since one of the main villains, intricately familiar with both of them, seems poised to return. This leaves us wondering if Rose's character will be returning as well. Since, as in a Halmark movie, they really don't show any real deep intimacy at the end, we'll be OK either way.

Season 2 of The Night Agent continued the high-stakes espionage narrative established in its debut, delivering a blend of action and intrigue. This season, overall, exhibited a more assured and confident storytelling approach. Comparing the show to Homeland or 24 seems a bit ridiculous because although it presents a lot of similarities to those shows and even tries to follow their footsteps in storytelling, it is still not as good as them. However, it does not deserve the low ratings, either. I genuinely think this is not a show with a rating less than 8. The story is really engaging and makes you want more.
The narrative of the second season expanded to include significant Iranian characters and storylines, adding depth to its espionage themes. As an Iranian, I really enjoy it when I see American shows contain Iranian culture but I have never seen it to this extent. There are various shows that portray Iranian characters which are mainly side characters. Here, though, a lot of attention was given to them. I really liked that. Still, there was the typical problem of Americans not knowing anything about Iran. The presentation of Isfahan was poorly done. It was like a village in Iraq. Walls of mud and gravel roads was such a big insult to this beautiful city. I don't know why the Iranian actors didn't consult with the show runners. Their accents were acceptable, considering how they were away from Iran for so long, but some other things could have been modified. Their lines were clearly written in English and then translated to Farsi, without considering cultural and language barriers and nuances. Another thing, Iranians are not usually on first name basis. Their calling each other Noor, Javad, Abbas was really absurd.
All in all, I like this show a lot and hope we get at least two other seasons. But maybe in the future more research on their target culture is required. Also, the second season changed path a little bit by omitting the roles of the president and the Night Action base in the White House. I think they need to be included a bit more in the story to make it feel more like a government operation rather than just a rouge agent.

With the finale out of the way, the less insane heads of netflix have to be experiencing a severe case of buyers remorse on this show which has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
1st season wasn't terrible, it had a softcore 48 hours feel to it, whilst subtly propagandizing for the intelligence services as the good guys.. we swear.. unless we're selling each other out because LOL, just for the LOL's.
But at least it wasn't overly political.. Season 2.. oh.... oh my... this mess of a story, as the shadow of the great orange Hagen man leering in the background, like the unknowable unfathomable evil destined to be the great Thanos of season 3, because orange man is so so bad.
Apart from that, it follows the netflix standard of introducing a heroic male character you're rooting for, mostly, and then in 2nd season he plays 2nd fiddle to an increasingly diverse cast that exists solely to rescue him, over and over and over and over again, all exhibiting all the joy a hostage that has been coerced into being there at gunpoint. The only slight exception is Noor, who was at least an interesting character.
Might I suggest that the Season 3 episode 1 be named: " Ad Nauseam ". To reflect where this sham of a show is going.

One of the worst written action, adventure series I have ever seen. There is no suspension of disbelief. It's completely unbelievable. The characters are so bad. The Boyscout theme of the good guy never kills the bad guy on purpose is so demeaning to the character. An unbelievable tale, with unbelievably bad acting. The main male character talks like he has a perpetual wad of tobacco in his lower lip. Truly a waste of time and disrespectful to the action genre. The female lead is more of a bad ass than the male night agent. His character is so bad, he should be brought up on charges of treason. The characters and their actions are completely unbelievable. AI could write a better script and should.
