The Gaslight District

Glitch Productions (The amazing digital circus and Murder Drones) Made another Indie Series called the gaslight district. And let me tell you, the moment the pilot finished, I fell in loved with it, this was an Enjoyable pilot. From The Animation to the Writing to the characters, this was peak Cinema. And if I have to be honest, Ts looks like it was made in a big budget studio and I like that it has that Choppy Spider verse feel. Also Loved Ken the butcher and Mud, If your a fan of Indie animation or just YouTube shows in gems, your gonna love this pilot. Because they cooked 🔥 10/10: Absolute Cinema.

Edit: it got greenlit for a full season, let's go!!?

I am really enjoying this series so far f,ans of glitches other shows will surely enjoy this, one especially the fans of murder drones it has quite a few similarities to murder drones , both incorporate dark comedy and Hyper violent action, they both have a quirky characters that don't feel generic or badly fleshed out, the animation is absolutely fantastic I really like the World building and the designs as well gives it a darker more grimy Edge while still being quirky and fun The show is very much its own thing, like murder drones but not for everyone, as a final note when good shows like this the amazing digital circus and murder drones come out on the Indie scene you really start to see what shambles the big entertainment companies are in, I highly recommend this give it a watch!

The Gaslight District is a unique and visually striking animated series, full of constant action and tension. Each episode is dynamic and event-packed, keeping the viewer engaged, though sometimes there's little room to catch a breath between intense moments.

It's clear that the creators have a genuine love for animation and action storytelling - the series feels authentic and energetic. Compared to other animated series like Arcane or Castlevania, The Gaslight District stands out for its pace and intensity of action while maintaining a complex world and interesting characters.

Overall, it's a highly engaging series for fans of action and quality animation, even if it can feel a bit too fast-paced at times.

Just with the Pilot episode, the show is already surprisingly good for an indie production. The animation style feels very right for what the show is trying to be, and the character interactions feel natural, unlike a lot of the awkward pauses in dialog in the earlier episodes of MD. Watch it again, trust me, you'll see it. The atmosphere is immersive, which is something Glitch seems to do really well at. For being a Pilot, this didn't feel like just a massive exposition dump, which is greatly appreciated. While the Pilot is good, it certainly isn't perfect. The level of gore was... a lot. The pacing was a little rushed, but that can be chalked up to this being a Pilot episode. Overall, a solid start.

I've been following Glitch's works since I got into The Amazing Digital Circus and this pilot blew me out of the water. The animation resembles Tim Burton and Henry Selick films, with the halved frame rate further adding to that stop motion feel. The show is far from kid friendly, but never takes it too far. Many other shows fall into a pitfall of being too violent or using swear words too much to seem mature, and this pilot never crosses those lines. Mel has very quickly become one of my favorite characters in media, with her design, personality, and a stunning voice acting job from Allanah Fitzgerald.

I don't have very many criticisms so far. The pacing is pretty fast and can be overstimulating, and the use of gross out humor is likely to turn some people away. However, neither of these are big issues for me.
