INSPECTOR RISHI begins with a banger scene, and the scene sets the tone perfectly for whatever is coming. But once the proceedings gets going, you slowly beging to realize that you aren't hoing to get that high which the beginning sequence provided. And that's the biggest problem with this series. It begins with such a brilliant sequence that it never quite manages to top it, and keeps chasing that high, which eludes it right up till the end.
The series has a interesting story to tell and it mixes folklore with relevant social issues, but due to its tonal inconsistencies and below average writing, it fails to reach up to its desired potential. This is a mystery thriller series with a touch of horror in between, but due to its dull pace in several portions, the mystery doesn't feel as tantalizing as it should have. The series could have easily done well with 8 episodes instead of 10, but due to several outstretched portions and subplots, it doesn't leave a desired impact. The red herrings are nicely done, and the central mystery is nicely built, but the unraveling part isn't as good, and the end twist isn't that surprising.
Acting is superb all around, and technically the series is fine too barring some poor visual effects and awkward fight sequences. Overall, it's a fine series that doesn't jusify its length and could have done well with some editing and a better writing.

"Inspector Rishi" is a gripping Tamil series that seamlessly blends the elements of a crime thriller with the eerie atmosphere of a supernatural drama. Set in the remote village of Vanarachi, the series follows Inspector Rishi, a sharp and determined detective who arrives to investigate a series of mysterious deaths, only to find himself entangled in a web of ancient traditions, hidden secrets, and supernatural forces.
The series masterfully captures the essence of rural India, with its stunning visuals and atmospheric soundtrack creating a sense of both beauty and unease. The performances are commendable, with the actor portraying Inspector Rishi delivering a nuanced portrayal of a man grappling with the complexities of his investigation and the clash between modernity and tradition.
The narrative expertly interweaves the procedural elements of a crime investigation with the chilling mysteries of the supernatural, keeping viewers engaged with its twists and turns. The series explores themes of faith, superstition, justice, and the challenges of reconciling ancient beliefs with modern perspectives.
While the series occasionally relies on familiar tropes, it manages to create a unique and captivating atmosphere that keeps viewers hooked. The character development is well-executed, with each episode revealing new layers of complexity and depth to the inhabitants of Vanarachi.
Overall, "Inspector Rishi" is a must-watch for fans of crime thrillers and supernatural dramas. Its compelling characters, intriguing plotlines, and atmospheric storytelling make it a standout series that will leave you wanting more.

Folklore, horror, super natural, thriller, jungle, poaching, LGBTQ, superstitions, friendship , loyalty, hallucinations- so many themes packed for a slow yet eventful show.
A skeptic crime branch Inspector Rishi Nandhan is assigned to investigate a series of bizarre murders in a small mountain village, committed by a deadly forest ghoul called the Vanaratchi.
The investigation builds up most of the drama along with beautiful sub plots and flashbacks.
The only flaw for this gritty and haunting show is the pacing. The initial 3-4 episodes become drag and slow to set up. The transitions, montages and editing drag the pace which would have easily got the show to a gripping drama. Due to this, the depth is lacking and the emotional backstories felt forced.
Yet you would be invested with the show for the horror, the thrilling drama, the murders and the horrifying reality of poaching. The writing shifts gears from becoming murder mystery to a horror folks tale to grotesque poaching reaching to a penultimate climax.
Performance wise Naveen Chandra & Srikrishna Dayal blend a Ram Balram duo. But it is the supporting cast of Kanna Ravi, Malini & Sunaina who get the best moments and they give their heart out. Watch out for their performance in the later part of the show.
Absolute Kudos and spectacular production design, the cinematography, the gripping BGM, the claustrophobic and haunting jungle and the ease with which everything blends together. Special mentions to the creature effects and the VFX - spot on and believable.
The dubbing may sound silly - there is a caricature dubbing of typical South Indian lingo and accent which comes out of the blue for the supporting cast.
If you loved Poachers, which was an even gripping amazing drama then Inspector Rishi will blend the elements of horror with it.

I must say that the show started off really well, especially with the backdrop of an eerie forest and village near it .Even the opening scene was pretty dope. Inspite of few cliches like the troubled past of the lead detective, the subordinate not approving with the senior. We might start guessing the story plot somewhere by the 4th episode, but you'd watch it still for the good narration. However the show drags on unnecessarily and is maybe a couple of episodes too long. Some of the side storylines were too cliched and could have been made better. Overall a decent show that has different yet not unique plotline, great camera, decent acting by the characters, and is definitely watchable.
A captivating series that holds you tight from start to finish. Season 1 leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment. The storyline is solid, with direction that keeps you hooked throughout.
Rishi, Satya, Aayannar, and Chitra deliver convincing performances, though Kathy shines as a standout character while Viji adds an amusing touch. The series reached a climax that left audiences on the edge of their seats, keeping them guessing until the very end.
Vanarachi's presence on screen is simply mesmerizing. Each character contributes meaningfully to the plot, leaving no loose ends. The picturesque locations and scenery add another layer of depth to the presentation. Even the Hindi dubbing is commendable, ensuring a seamless viewing experience. In short, it's a series that's definitely worth your time and attention.
