I've never written a movie review before, but I came across There's a Stranger in My Home after seeing a trailer on TikTok that made it look intense and intriguing. It hooked me just enough to spend $6 to rent it, but unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended.
The acting was pretty bad, the story was super predictable, and the whole thing just felt cringey. It had the vibe of a cheesy made-for-TV movie, but not in a fun or entertaining way. I kept waiting for it to get better, but it never really did.
If you're thinking about watching it, I'd say skip it-unless you're in the mood to laugh at something unintentionally funny.

The Stranger in My Home is a solid, twisty domestic thriller that had me hooked from the start. Sophia Bush absolutely carries this film-she's raw, emotional, and totally believable as a mom whose life unravels when a mysterious man shows up claiming her daughter was switched at birth. And let's talk about Chris Carmack for a second-menacing, mysterious, and ridiculously sexy. Like, sir, please ruin my family if you're going to look like that. The film leans a little dramatic in parts, but honestly, that's part of the fun. It's suspenseful, stylish, and just messy enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Perfect for a cozy night in with wine and friends who love a good plot twist.
I knew it would be Lifetime levels of cringe, but because it has a couple of my favorites in it, I didn't expect it to be quite THIS bad. 🤣
Really, really bad acting by most of the cast, cheesy, knew exactly what was going to happen about ten minutes into the movie, lacking transitions and it would just pop up with a new scene/storyline out of nowhere, and really weird to follow with way too many coincidences or weird insertions for "drama" that were really stupid, my husband and I laughed through most of it. I love Chris Carmack and Sophia Bush was a favorite from One Tree Hill, but not even they were enough to kind of save it.

Tense, twisty, and surprisingly emotional, The Stranger in My Home delivers a psychological thriller that hooks you from the start and refuses to let go. The plot unfolds with sharp precision, keeping you guessing through every reveal and reversal.
But it's the performances that elevate the film. Sophia Bush brings quiet intensity to the role, while Chris Carmack balances charm and menace in a way that's downright chilling. Their chemistry makes every scene feel like a ticking time bomb.
It's a smart, gripping ride-one that proves you don't need loud action to leave a lasting impact. Well done!

I don't understand people on the internet. Just being mean for no reason. Who is giving this movie a one star review? And saying it looks cheap. I don't know about you, but that house doesn't look cheap to me. I think the actors did a great job in this movie. And it doesn't take itself too seriously. I thought the ending was visceral and fun and I liked the characters. Where are we when people hide behind their computers and and rip good movies apart just to be jerks. I'd watch this movie again and it's better than a lot of stuff I've seen recently. I think all the actors did a really good job and the mean girl and her Mom are pretty hilarious.
