I honestly feel like the crew here is wasting major opportunities with the story.
S16 & S17 were both marketed as the BAU having to hunt "evolved" serial killers - and yet we have Voit who's being made incredibly human (for a serial killer) and faulty when it suits the script better.
Same goes for "Gold Star" who turns from "evolved super serial killers" to subpar killer brats??
I mean the human aspects used to be reflected within the BAU team: Morgan's interactions with the team, personal tragedies like Maeve or Hotchner or even Prentiss who had to revisit an earlier life. Personal growth used to be a thing.

- Again with a focus on humanizing the characters and make them relatable or faulty when it suits the script.

- Now those things are missing and instead we get relatable serial killers? Why??
- S17 was decent throughout, but I really hoped the season was as marketed: Evolved serial killers.. But we didn't that (again)..
I largely enjoy the Evolution part of Criminal Minds, but also feel that maybe they are just playing a little out of your depth.
Swearing a lot doesn't make you edgy. And having a giant conspiracy theory while criticising the existence of conspiracy theory seems like a plot hole. I didn't feel much danger for these characters much at all during this episode, and it was meant to be climactic.
But I still enjoy the characters, they have good chemistry and the history is hard to deny. Oh well, I'm here until the final countdown so keep going show! Wheels up and all that.
Six out of 10 for this one.

A solid finale nothing too crazy
The team are on site of the explosion from the previous episode, Prentis is held hostage by Jade, the team must safely get her back.
That's the main story of this episode, we end the season in a nice way. Most stories are tied up with an open possibility of more. I know there is a S18 and I'm looking forward to it but I feel 17 didn't being the intensities or stakes of S16. I would like a bit more as the story felt a little sluggish this season with a 7/10 being an average while last season it was an 8.
I liked the acting a lot this season and the killer stories are good, this episode is a 7.5/10.

Any enjoyment I may have got from an interesting and ever twisting storyline was wiped out by some film editor's idea of "clever" production. What on earth is clever about making the picture so dark that sometimes all you see is a black screen? Half the time I thought I was listening to a radio program.
Fire the film editor (or whoever was ultimately responsible for this mess) and replace them with somebody who values the viewers' experience above making themself feel clever.
I've watched the series right from episode one and enjoyed all the characters and most of the storylines, but now all I'm left with is a bad taste in my eyes.

Disappointing, kept waiting for it to get better. Not the old Criminal Minds. Don't like the season being one continuous story. I prefer individual stories.

Ridiculous that this review has to be so long to get accepted. It appears it was not a liked season. Bring back Spencer and Hotch.

- ErroresAdding a block of C4 to a Claymore mine is redundant, and defeats the purpose of the Claymore. A Claymore is a directional anti-personnel mine, it uses a shaped charge to direct the explosive force, along with shrapnel consisting of steel balls, in a single direction. This serves two purposes: to take out enemies coming from a specific direction and to prevent the kind of structural damage a normal omnidirectional explosive does. However if the desired outcome is to take out personnel entering a building and destroy the building as well the C4 alone would be more than enough. Though that clearly isn't Pete and Jade's intent, they want to either kill all of the BAU or go out in a hail of bullets, with how close they are to the door that much C4 would have killed them as well. So adding the C4 makes no sense.
