If at First You Don't Succeed...

The first review that I read gave a strongly worded, mostly negative review...based on inaccurate info. Wasn't this reviewer able to rewind to review a scene that they ended up describing inaccurately, consequently harshly criticizing the show because they, this reviewer on Jan 12, 2025, didn't accurately see or understand how the collision occurred. This other reviewer said that the vehicle collision was head-on with another vehicle. It clearly was not head-on, it was a rear-ender, offset, at that. And yes, an offset rear-end collision could in fact result in the moving vehicle at the rear overturning as shown. Having investigated many traffic collisions, I know this could very well have happened. But the bigger issue is that someone spent a lot of verbiage negatively criticizing a show for the way that they incorrectly remembered the occurrence of a collision, when the dynamics of the collision are immaterial to the story. How she experienced the injuries is irrelevant. The story is about a woman who suffered a TBI, which affected her memory, her life, her profession, personal relationships, etc. It doesn't matter how her injures occurred.

All that being said, I like this show having watched 2 episodes, started the 3rd.

At first glance I thought maybe Fox was coming up with the "answer" show to one of the network's greatest hits: "House M. D.", but with strong acting from lead Molly Parker this examination of a doctor's dedication has a lot more heart.

In all those years on the tube, Dr. House never really had to face his inability to relate civilly with other people, be they patients, his superiors, or the wonderful team which he led and verbally abused week after week. But here we have a great doctor with a similar personality problem. The pilot title implies that her partial amnesia gives Molly a chance to take a different road in life, learning the hard way how t behave, yet the medical case she was working on at the time of her accident demonstrates a far more nuanced issue -maybe the "mean" Doc wasn't so bad after all.

So far, and things have just started, Scott Wolf's character is a one-dimensional baddie, but apart from that the show and its characters promise to grow on you. Molly reminds me a lot of Mary McDonnell in her ability to naturally project empathy, a wonderful contrast to her character's "hard-hearted" persona before the accident.

I watched the pilot episode online today and I see it doesn't have any ratings yet. It has a release date of January 2024 but nothing else about it.

Here's my honest review: don't bother watching it. The characters were not at all likeable. Especially the main character Doctor Amy Larsen (played by Molly Parker). She was my least favorite character.

I barely made it through the forty three minutes without turning it off, but I watched it until the end. Imdb indicates that the episode aired in January of 2024 but I don't think that is correct, unless they only made one episode.

If they did only make one episode, I think that is a wise choice. None of the characters or the plot were interesting enough for me to even want to see a second episode of it.
