Cop & a Half

This is a fun local film which we need more of. Jonathan and Trevor work well together and pull the dark and hilarious script very well.

The opening scene really sets the stage for what you can expect for the next 90 minutes.

The supporting cast are all so quirky and interesting you want to see more of them.

South African cinema has been serving us rom-coms for years.

But this one?

It's loud, it's bold, it's funny and it's unapologetically South African.

Jonathan Boynton-Lee kicks down the door with guns blazing in this genre, he absolutely nails it: funny, charismatic, and totally believable as an action lead.

And then, Trevor Gumbi.

Comedy gold, but with heart - he's the perfect partner-in-crime on screen.

He is hilarious & magnetic.

The perfect duo.

The rest of the cast match their energy perfectly - talented, witty and a joy to watch.

The mix of action and comedy feels fresh and daring, and you can tell the cast had the best time bringing it to life. The fight scenes land just as hard as the jokes.

This film is proof that SA can play in the big leagues of action comedy. It's smart, it's over the top in the best way - basically everything you want when you sit down with popcorn.

South Africa deserves it.

I've been waiting for a movie like this! Something that showcases the amazing talent South Africa has to offer - in front of and behind the camera. The chemistry between the two leads, Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Trevor Gumbi, is palpable and leads to numerous hilarious moments. Jonathan also has some heavy emotional scenes which he handles with ease, an all round movie star for sure!! The whole cast is great, not a single weak performance to be found, a credit to the great writing and story. Special mention to the world class soundtrack and cinematography.

I can only hope there will be a sequel and see the chaos that follows Jon & Trev on another case!

This must be the funniest films to ever come out of SA. I must say, I was weary of Jonathan Boynton-Lee and Trevor Gumbi as a duo, but boy did they deliver. Amazing chemistry and performances. All the cast were great. The writing was top notch. Even the action scenes were super exciting, and that Lady T was bad ass. Can't wait to see what this team does next.

Just a good, fun, proudly South African ride from start to finish. Great performances all round, big explosions, bigger laughs, great writing, beautifully shot. If this is what SA can do with very little, Hollywood better watch out, cause damn we've got the talent to match! I am even more proud to be South African after watching that gem of a film!
