This travelogue spends most of its time in Birmingham, with commentary about its forward-thinking municipality, its lovely parks and homes. Mostly, though, it's about the city's industries, which manufacture everything from dynamos to bosun's whistles. The last few minutes gets us out of the city, and over to Stratford on Avon, where we get to talk about Shakespeare. Finally, the place where George Washington's ancestors lived. Apparently after a couple of World Wars, Britain was willing to forgive the United States for wanting its independence.
My commentary about many travelogues is that they have handsome images, but the commentary is annoying. Here that thought is reversed. The images of Birmingham, the busy factories, leaves much to be desired in the way of beauty. However the commentary written and spoken by E. V. H. Emmett is informative, and riddled with dry humor, much of which made me grin.
