The thing is that it's still a hospital soap opera, even if a realistic, sophisticated one: it would be a great mini-series, because what's the point of another series? It's a depiction of a work environment, it could be an anthology, rotating characters in and out, but the institution itself is the star, not Wyle or any other actor.
Still, it's the best hospital show I've ever watched, the genre itself is difficult to elevate above a mere soap opera. The writing is indeed kind of soapy, but of the best kind, and they must have had a few actual ER doctors on the writing staff because the work-speak part is pretty impressive. Cast good, bingeable, good compelling fun.

That's what we were taught in college; the worst day in their life is just another Thursday for you.
Today, it was the worst day for everyone.
I said it last week, but this season was simply extraordinary.
Watching the doctors calmly work problem solving on Hector and actually discuss a workaround plan for him was like being back at work and watching my colleagues work their magic.
Dr. Abbot is still a shining star, Dr. Santos is working her way to being one of the most thoughtful physicians in the department, despite her prickly beginnings. I'd also like to see more of Dr. Shen and his calming demeanor next season.
So, until next season... Goodnight, get some rest, tomorrow is another day.

This was an amazing finale one of the best I've seen. I love this show so much they were able to finish the character arcs of so many characters I love and gave the opportunity for the second season. This show is so amazing. I used to hate Dr. Santos and I mean hate but after this I don't love her but I also don't hate her nearly as much. The writing in this show was so good that I prayed on her downfall and in 4 short episodes they were able to make me somehow not hate her. This show is so so so well executed and amazing. I can not wait for the next season, they can take as long as they need I don't care I just want quality 1/10 of this atleast.
It isn't that I didn't enjoy this episode. I just felt that it was a little vanilla. It's as if so many things needed to be wrapped up, so everyone is happy. Robbie is filled with guilt because he is being blamed for the death of the girlfriend. Those that watched the show know he never gave up. He was literally pulled away because even after her death he tried dramatic measure. He is also embarrassed about falling apart for a few minutes in a room. But he makes a superb speech to the day crew who went through hell. And they are there a hundred percent. Others celebrated at the end, but tomorrow is another day. I hope I'm around to see Season Two.
This is a discovery, an impressive series "The Pitt" - about people-heroes who voluntarily choose to be in hell every shift so that others can feel a little better.
Each episode is one hour in the emergency room. And the whole season is a work shift. Chaos, blood, saving lives depends on instant decisions on the edge, and no one can get out of the game.
I watched and thought all the time: who are these people who return there again and again? They are definitely superhumans , their courage is to stand between death and the patient and buy time for at least one more breath.
For me, doctors are those people who stay when it's scary, difficult, and sometimes too late. And it's amazing.
Watch if you want to feel what real courage looks like.
And yes, doctors should have salaries like judges, no less.
