It's been a long time since we've seen Nawaz in a leading role with a decent storyline, and finally, he is back.
The story is set in the small village of Raut, Uttarakhand. A team of amateur police officers, led by Nawaz, is investigating the murder of a warden at a school for the blind.
The movie wastes no time jumping into the plot, engaging you from the start. The small-town police procedures are captured accurately. The proceedings are neatly packed as they unravel layer after layer, and the reveal is both unexpected and well justified.
The beautiful locale of Uttarakhand is brilliantly used by the cinematographer, making the viewing experience quite refreshing. The pace of the movie is slow, and there is minimal use of technology, Sherlock Holmes-level investigation, or any out-of-the-box tricks, which prevents the movie from being top-notch.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui performs his role with sheer honesty, though he lacks the demeanor one might expect from a police officer character in movies. Rajesh Kumar is a surprise and plays his part well. The real heroes are the blind children who act with such honesty. Atul Tiwari, Narayan Shastri, and others are decent.
It is a good crime thriller suitable for a lazy Sunday afternoon, with a twist you won't see coming. It needs more "masala" to be outstanding but is a good attempt and worth watching. #pranureviews #RautuKaRaaz #RautuKaRaazReview.

It's rare to say for a murder mystery but it is a soulful film single handedly carried away by Nawazuddin Siddique on his shoulder. Himalayan setting give the apt atmosphere to the film. It also reminds us after Raat Akeli Hai that how good Nawaz looks as a policeman solving mysteries. Director Anand Surpur has done a wonderful job with the simple script he has in his hand. Rajesh Kumar as Inspector Dimri also add flavor to the film and conversations between him and Nawaz bring humor to the otherwise dull film.
Background story of Negi should be elaborated to the audience for attachment with the character.

Every frame of the screenplay has been utilised with utmost perfection including the subtle humour of the characters. Thanks to the #OTT platforms! The ending of the movie is really well thought of. I was thinking what if this movie was released at the theatre and the hard work and the talent, whole team had put would have gone in vain. I loved Uttarakhand background as all the scenes were so scenic and mesmerising. The movie is less than 2 hours which makes a huge difference as it shows the team had put lot of efforts in editing. Last but not the least kudos to the casting director for selecting such an amazing star cast for this movie! Cheers!
Nawazuddin Siddiqui shines like never before in this understated gem, delivering a performance that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The film's locations, nestled in the serene beauty of Uttarakhand, add to its charm, making you fall in love with the simplicity of both the land and the character, Rautu. The supporting cast does an exceptional job, but it's Nawaz's portrayal that truly stands out, effortlessly bringing depth to his character. The storyline is compelling, weaving through the narrative with a gentle yet captivating pace. While a few scenes, like the bar sequence, betray the film's modest budget, they are minor blemishes in an otherwise well-crafted film. In an era where originality in Bollywood is a rarity, this movie shines through with its refreshing approach. Despite its lack of action, which feels unnecessary, it ticks all the boxes of a good Bollywood film and could have easily been a hit in theaters. This movie is a testament to the fact that sometimes, less is indeed more.
