People weren't looking forward to this? That's what I've heard under these reviews, and frankly I think that's ridiculous.
Blue lock Season 2 has returned Isagi to our seasonal lineup and it's been much missed. The adaptation is of the exact same caliber as it was before, and even if the animation has the odd clunky moment complaining about this end product is ridiculous.
For one, this completely misses the point of the show. Blue Lock is built primarily on the intense atmosphere and heated moments, but like most sports anime this is nothing to do with the football, it's all to do with the characters and their dynamic. Characters argue, build rapport, understand each other, and that's exactly what makes the show interesting. Seeing discord and harmony between characters.
Secondly, while the Blue Lock manga is very well drawn, it's built on panels which have to be transcribed into a cohesive show. That means keeping the characters moving, and that is by no means easy to animate. Storyboarding, sketching, shading and refining the product for a weekly show like this is incredibly hard - so to say the animation is poor is jus5 ridiculous.
Thirdly, the plot of this anime is so good that I wouldn't even care if the product were low quality. The whole idea behind the show is incredible and that was no different here. I just cannot fathom why this is getting hate.
So I will say this is a 10/10 episode because I cannot see why complaints are happening. This episode was a perfect opener so deserves a perfect score.
