I'm just now catching up with this series and binged the first 9 episodes last night. Amazing. I wasn't expecting so much depth in the characters. Owen shows he is a real actor in this show. I was so surprised at his range as an actor. This show was surprising and really elevated past a cliche sprts story. The acting is excellent across the board. This boy, Santi, is so good as a troubled, angsty teenager and his mom is excellent as well. The Zero character was annoying, but as the show progressed I was happily surprised be her (their!) depth and heart. I'm not a golfer, but even those scene were fun for me to watch and added to the experience. I highly recommed this show and I am excited to see where it goes.
As someone who is just going through a slump myself this show the first episode just pulled my through my straps and I am feeling a lot better already. Thank you.
What a show starter for all those who think it's over, it's not. Even if it might be for you maybe you could help someone else and make sure they don't stop like you did. Or start again for yourself. And for someone else. But make sure it's what you want to do.
Move on. Don't be stuck at the past. Cherish it for it meant, for what it did but make sure it doesn't keep you from continuing at chasing after what you want.
That episode ending just gutted me too.

Pryce Cahill (Owen Wilson) was once an ace golfer with the world at his feet.
Onde day he has a very public meltdown and he has not played professional golf since then.
His life has hit a downward spiral. His ex-wife, Amber-Linn (Judy Greer) wants to sell the marital home. Pryce works in a golf store on commission trying to sell expensive clubs.
He hustles some money at bars as a sideline.
One day he catches teenager Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager) hitting golf balls far and with accuracy. He is mesmerized with Santi's abilities.
So Pryce tracks him down and proposes to his mother to manage her son. Only she makes a high demand.
This was a promising but low key opening episode of this dramedy. It was nothing too original and I guess Owen Wilson is not stretching himself here.
I would have thought Pryce would really want to check the kid's game a out a bit more than just his tee shot.

This was a great start to a show. The show has the same vibe as a 2000s Judd Apatow movie, so even though it's new it feels nostalgic. Owen Wilson brings so much charisma and life, I've really missed seeing him act.
You don't need to care about golf at all to find this interesting, as the golf is mostly a vehicle for the drama. Maybe that changes in coming episodes, but it doesn't feel like it will.
I have been looking forward to this show's premiere based on the preview and I'm happy to say it has delivered to my expectations. I hope it keeps up with the same quality as this first episode, but from what I've seen, it's worth your time!
