I found this yesterday while looking for something to watch on Passionflix and immediately became interested after seeing that it's an adaptation of a book(I'm an avid reader).
The chemistry between David and Ev is palpable even while they're, sometimes awkwardly, getting to know each other. Kudos to the lead actors for keeping their performances grounded and realistic.
While everyone did their part, my favorite character just might be Mal(the drummer). His 'go with the flow/take it as it comes' demeanor was a refreshing additive whenever something seemed too stressful. He was also a great sounding board and voice of reason when needed all while appearing a little goofy. With that awesome mane, Mal looks like the quintessential 80's rock band member.
The storyline was interesting enough to keep me engaged and entertained while also making me want to read the book to get all of the details that were left out.
I'll definitely be watching it again before and after I've read the book.

I absolutely loved *Lick*-the movie had me fangirling from start to finish! As a Passionflix adaptation of Kylie Scott's bestselling romance novel, it exceeded all my expectations and delivered everything I look for in a romantic drama. From the stunning direction to the incredible performances by the lead actors, it captivated me in every imaginable way and reached deep into the world of romance and drama with precision and heart.
The story centers on Evelyn Thomas, a relatable and strong protagonist who wakes up in Las Vegas with a raging hangover and a shocking discovery-she's married to none other than rock star David Ferris. The plot might sound like a classic romance trope, but *Lick* takes this premise and infuses it with so much heart, tension, and depth that it feels entirely fresh and new. It's not just about two people discovering how they feel about each other-it's about trust, vulnerability, and navigating life in the spotlight.
The direction of the film is flawless. Louise Alston, the director, manages to perfectly balance the humor, drama, and passion from the book while also making it cinematic and visually beautiful. Every scene feels intentional, whether it's a charged, intimate moment between Evelyn and David or the chaos of being surrounded by paparazzi and fans. The pacing is spot on, never dragging but also giving us time to really connect with the characters and their emotions.
Of course, the film would be nothing without its incredible cast, and the actors in *Lick* deliver performances that are absolutely top-notch. Brooke Lee as Evelyn is such a joy to watch. She brings a mix of vulnerability, strength, and wit to the character that made her instantly likable and easy to root for. Meanwhile, Travis Burns as David Ferris is nothing short of magnetic. He captures David's charm, arrogance, and hidden sensitivity so well, making him not just a typical rock star but a fully fleshed-out character. Together, their chemistry is off the charts. Every scene they share feels electric, from their playful banter to the more intense, emotional moments that had me on the edge of my seat.
The supporting cast also deserves a shoutout for adding layers to the story and making the world of *Lick* feel rich and complete. The band members, particularly Mal, brought a lot of humor and lighthearted moments that balanced out the more dramatic aspects of the plot. These characters felt real, like people you could easily imagine being part of a famous rock band, with all the quirks and camaraderie that come with it.
One of the things I loved most about the movie was how it explored deeper themes beyond just the romance. Fame and its impact on relationships, the struggle to trust someone when you feel like their world is so different from yours, and the courage it takes to be vulnerable with another person were all explored in meaningful ways. It made the love story between Evelyn and David even more compelling because you could see their growth as individuals as well as a couple.
The production value of *Lick* is also worth mentioning. The soundtrack was perfect, featuring songs that matched the rock-and-roll vibe of the story while also enhancing the emotional beats. The cinematography was stunning, particularly during the scenes in Los Angeles and Vegas, which showcased the glitz and chaos of their world. Every detail, from the costumes to the set design, felt authentic and added to the overall experience.
By the time the credits rolled, I was completely in love with this movie. It gave me all the feels-excitement, heartbreak, laughter, and joy. It's the kind of story that stays with you long after you've finished watching, and I can already tell I'll be revisiting it again and again.
If you're a fan of romance, drama, or even just a sucker for a good love story with a little bit of rock star glamour, *Lick* is an absolute must-watch. Passionflix has done a phenomenal job bringing Kylie Scott's novel to life, and it's clear how much love and care went into making this film. I can't recommend it enough!

Passionflix helped make this book come alive with film adaption and they executed it perfectly.
The casting was perfect, although I was expecting to see Jimmy in more suit type clothing but the rest of them are portrayed as accurate as possible.
They stayed true to the characters and the mannerisms. I think Travis and Brooke did an excellent job as David and Evelyn. I would have loved to see him with long hair though and have him cut it as stated in the book. Would have brought a more dramatic response to certain events.
I reread Lick all the time and i will say, I will now rewatch the movie probably just as much.
Definitely recommend, you will love it especially if you loved the book!
I hope they bring the rest of the series to screen as well!

That was a great adaptation from Passionflix. It actually fixed some book problems and kept the story entertaining and fun.
Very good chemistry between the lead actors and a good performance by Brooke Lee giving depth to her character. The intimate scenes were made with good taste, no harsh language or anything. The settings and locations were great. The music of Stage Dive met with my standards, I liked it a lot, good job!
Loved the Mal character, but knowing him from the book, I was expecting this.
I hope they continue with this book series. I like the Stage Dive universe and I am really expecting Jimmy's story which is my favourite.
Totally recommended if you like comedy romance!!!

I was hesitant to watch this movie as I really enjoyed the book and movie adaptations are generally disappointing. This movie followed the book closely - thank god - and did a good job of telling the story visually.
Both lead actors did a great job of bringing the characters to life, kudos to them both. The male lead character seems to be a really good actor, I hope we see more of him and the female lead gave the depth to the character that could easily been down-played. The settings were perfect.
I hope to see adaptations of the rest of this series of books if they are done as well as this one.
