I thought this would be cheesy but...having Michael C Hall's voice as the narrator is really a game changer. As a die-hard Dexter fan the first episode is very promising.
Deb is a little hard to adapt too but its the first episode I will withhold judgement. Theres' just something not meshing. Its like the on pre-req the have for Deb is that she curses and while she was a curser she was much more than that.
Christian Slater as Harry. What a fantastic choice. He brought the young Harry to life. What a great actor
Michelle G: Love her character, she's added a new dimension. This entire cast is stellar.

Wow.. this is very unexpected, the acting is extremely good, i had goosebumps in some moments, the atmosphere is so good, the cast is extremely good.. i don't know, honestly.. i'm speechless. It's just incredibly well acted, the actors are extremely on point, Patrick Gibson's giving me Michael C. Hall vibes.. Molly Brown's like Jennifer Carpenter reincarnated.. Christian Slater's like made for playing James Remar role.. everyone is so good. This is pure nostalgia, it's like i'm watching the original show from 2006, i don't know.. it's weird how good it is. Clyde Phillips is the real deal man, Michael Lehmann and Monica Raymund too, i'm so F happy!
Everything about this was great. Casting is impeccable, I legit laughed at Deb and Batista because they are SPOT-ON. As others have said we've seen this in Dexter, so nice to see again. Really enjoyed the episode and it was highly nostalgic, but the icing on the cake was Camilla in the final scene. Definitely an Easter egg to the original.
One thing that was weird was whereas a lot of the actors in the original Dexter had been in some premium cable shows (Batista, Laguerta, Doakes in Oz, Dexter in 6 feet under, etc) none were really known outside of HBO. Literally everyone knows who Patrick Dempsey, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Christian Slater are. Not to say it's a bad thing, it's just weird. Although Patrick Dempsey was in Thanksgiving by Eli Roth (amazing) and SMG almost made it to final girl status 30 years ago in IKWYDLS, and is arguably THE ultimate final girl as Buffy for 8 years (RIP Anya and Joyce). Christian Slater is of Heathers, True Romance, Very Bad Things which are all 90s classics and recently Mr Robot and Blink Twice (also great). So I guess what I'm trying to say is whereas all three are weird to see in something like Dexter because they've been mainstream for decades, dark comedy/thriller/horror is no stranger and it's great casting ultimately.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

You need to see it on your own, although good as a first episode if you are a fan of the series you will like it but its pace is a little fast, if you are not a fan the episode is goof too, Although I hope it improves with each episode, like the New Blood series, although I think it has even better potential, along with the next Dexter Resurrection series, I hope they finally give a good closure to the character Dexter.
And speaking more about the episode, the characters and the actors' interpretation are very good, just like the original series, I would say that it is the best of this first episode, the episode is a solid 7.5-8/10.

The first episode of Dexter: Original Sin is a strong start that pulls you right into the early life of Dexter Morgan. It does a fantastic job of showing how his dark urges begin to surface and how Harry's moral code starts shaping him into the calculated killer fans know. Patrick Gibson's portrayal of young Dexter is spot-on, capturing both his vulnerability and his eerie detachment. Christian Slater brings depth and authority to Harry, making their dynamic compelling. The 1990s setting feels authentic and adds a layer of nostalgia. This episode lays a solid foundation, balancing suspense, character development, and tension. It's fascinating to see the origins of Dexter's duality unfold, making it a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike.
