Pilot

So I won't go into spoilers at all mostly cause the trailer fills you in pretty well but there was other stuff not in the trailer,I think that's my big issue the trailer for episode one is pretty misleading I knew this was a new NBC drama on Sunday nights so I knew this from the jump,But the trailer made it seem like a fun dramedy close to say CBS Elsbeth which is where the show is very misleading but you can it's where NBC green lighted the show but it's also copying a show ABC hasn't copied for their Sunday night line up Desperate Housewives. So your left with a pilot with an identy complex in terms of tone dose it want to lean into I comedy aspects or it's drama aspects. I love the characters and their dynamics and their funny too but when the show dose the more drama aspect not on the murder just what the character going threw on their plot it doesn't land well since you have the comedy aspect doing better but its whiplash to the drama. Hopefully by episode 2 or 3 it has its own identity or leans more so into the comedy aspects but still keep it a dark show with character arcs. This is why I'm giving it a generous five it's not bad but it clearly lacks an identity sadly.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this pilot episode. It had just enough intrigue to get me hooked, not to mention an amazing cast who already has raw chemistry! I'm definitely sticking around for the rest of the season. There were two things that I thought were a bit odd, one, birdie. I can tell that character development needs to be meet with this character, but the actress was great and I hope she can surprise me as the show goes on. The second thing is how the show keeps simultaneously switching between the present day and six months later. It kind of took me out of the show for a little bit and that's probably what they're gonna do for the rest of the season, but if they can make it work and make it feel more coherent than I'll be here for it. AnnaSophia Robb is my fav on this show so far! Overall 7.5/10!

It's a pilot, an introduction, a first step. For me it did what it's supposed to & it did it quite well, because I want to see & know more.

I enjoyed the actors, their characters, their chemistry & their rapport. The mystery is fun, the aesthetics are appealing, the acting is convincing & the storytelling is intriguing. I went in with no expectations and left with any positive ones I would have had being satisfyingly met.

But reviews are subjective, and based on other ppl's perception & perspective, no matter how wide or narrow, limited or expansive. I liked it & know others will too, but you gotta watch with your own eyes & through your own vision to see for yourself. I'm glad that I did.

It has a ton of potential. Lots of fun characters and already a murder afoot. There is a few storylines going each with their own very dramatic storyline of cheating, issues at work, wanting more, or needing to fix their image. It's clear this small town doesn't drama very well. There is a mix of present day, flash backs and flash forwards, where we know there is a murder and who is helping cover it up, but we don't know who, when, why. We do know it's an unlikely group of people trying to cover this up. I look forward to more episodes and see how they let each character grow into who they are!
