I thought the second episode of this season was an improvement over the first, so perhaps it was to be expected that this third episode was an improvement over the second.
After the fall of the citadel of Ricks, A Rick (Ian Cardoni) lives a quiet life on a planet resembling the Western Frontier. Whilst he's in town buying supplies, a group of Rick's arrive, kidnap all the Morty's (Harry Belden) and shoot Rick. Recovering, and discovering that they've burned down his farmstead - Rick sets out for revenge, alongside two Morty's that hid in his car.
Aside from providing the voices, Justin Roiland must have been the one pushing for an "A" Story / "B" Story formatting idea because they're just not doing that anymore. This is another episode that doesn't even briefly feature any of the rest of the family. . . Actually I suppose it doesn't actually even feature our Rick and Morty. The actual story of the episode is good though, a "John Wick" inspired revenge story which sees a Boss Hog Inspired Southern Gentleman version of Rick try and create a new Citadel, by experimenting on the Mortys trying to learn how to clone them.
Funny and action packed. I enjoyed it.

Be honest with me, did you guys get chatgpt to write this episode? The whole idea, the characters, the dialogues, the jokes, the action scenes, all felt old and as cliche as it could get. Everything felt out of place. When the song started on a supposedly emotional part of the story, it felt so forced. I remembered the s01e06 episode when Look on Down From the Bridge played, how shocking that scene felt, like a slap to the face. This time, it was a slap to the face as how bad everything was. As if a group of people had tried, under mortal threat, to just throw up some script and get it over with.
When this episode first started, i really thought I was gonna be in for another tales of the citadel kind of episode but in all, the story lacked depth and didn't really make any sense to me, the idea of them trying to replicate morty's again and the guy who knows the code wanting to be left alone is cool. But I felt like this could've been way better if there was a true change to the story at the end of this like in the old "plot" episodes. This was very similar to "The Ricklantis Mixup" but just had a worse story unfortunately.
In all i feel like they tried to make a plot episode but didn't know where to go with it.

The first episode was fine although wasnt the best of rick and morty but the 2 after are just horrible, the jokes are super cheesy and boring. On a she hulk level. The plot and the dialogue also sucks ass. An example is the moment in which farmer rick went to space to find the ricks who burned his house, he said to the morty's get out of my car while they were in the middle of space. The death of the morty with the hat was also weird. The final words he said are quite cringe and off putting to listen to. The last example the line the hoof rick said felt like it was supposed to be a joke but it just didnt deliver and thats sums up almost all jokes made in this episode, empty, not thought through and painfull.
Ricky and Morty found success through its witty, nonstop, thought-provoking humor and clever subversion of sci-fi tropes. Unfortunately, this episode lacked all of that. It was dull, uneventful, and, frankly, a disappointment. The energy and originality that once made the show stand out seems to be fading. I truly hope this was just a one off but with each new episode, I find myself questioning whether the show is slowly losing its edge.
I was so taken aback by how lifeless and uninspired the episode felt. I went out of my way to read reviews just to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I needed to know if others felt the same way, it was out of sync with what Rick and Morty used to be.
I'm sure it is difficult to come up with original ideas that are fast paced non stop comedy. I really hope this series aligns more with South Park and not with Family Guy.
