America Unfiltered: Portraits and Voices of a Nation

I saw this doc in a test run at an education conference (ASU-GSV) in San Diego in early 2024, and apparently no one else has yet hunted it down on IMdB and rated it, which is a shame. The multi-racial audience of about 50 that I saw it with was extremely moved, many to tears, such that many of us stuck around to talk about it afterward. I don't know where it stands now, but it doesn't look like there's currently a way to see this important film, although I very much hope that changes.

The plot is straightforward: Two filmmakers, who happen to be immigrants, drive around the US asking people what it means to be an American. The outcome is a funny, poignant, evocative meditation on race, gun control, religion, the red/blue divide, and, mostly, on what makes us human. It's like Will and Harper but funnier and more poignant. This is truly a movie that Americans should see, hopefully together. You come out of it with hope.
