After the magnificent first one. This one I had some inkling of what was going on ( with the little info allowed ) unlike the ridiculously highly praised War of Hammer one where despite the great action I had zero concept of what it was about. Terrific action on this one as two mercenary groups ( each thinking they're the good guys ) battle each other to obtain a mysterious package. Similar to Call of Duty/ Black Ops; the action is terrific and the animation spectacular. Unlike some of the others I would have loved to see more of the story of what this was about and more on the characters. Still a worthy addition to this new series and one of the best.
This episode servers no purpose, has no meaningful ideas or any philosophical advantage over Peppa the pig. Hurrr durrr we're not the bad guys, total waste of money and viewer's time. If you ask me, you took your job, you do it, not this new age monkey business. Just skip this, the game is below mediocre so is the episode, kinda fits. I guess you couldn't cook with this amount of material, but why bother then? Even the pacman one had better premise, but nothing to base it on. The CGI was abysmall in comparison, I can't believe someone approved it and set it to action, the boring MMO got the better episode, like what are we doing here. Yeah we have strong female presence here, but they are not smart, nor powerful, so what's the reason of this plug? I guess we will never know, but I hope someone gets fired over this one.
As with all the episodes in this series, the graphics are absolutely fantastic. I am stunned at the quality of the CG work. Bravo to the team. This episode, in particular, seemed stunningly photoreal.
The episode had a lot of action. Loved the combat sequences, the storm, the vehicle chases, all of it. It all worked very well together.
The story, however, wasn't great. It hinted at a larger story, but it felt very incomplete. Would have liked to have had a bit more character interaction. And it's ok to not tell us what's in the case, but the story tells us so little about what's going on, we really have no idea what the stakes are. So, yeah, would have liked it if the story was fleshed out a bit more.

CROSSFIRE? I'm not at all familiar with this game.. probably a Call of Duty "clone".
Anyway, the 20 minute episode presents two military units engaging in combat over a case and a client. There's a huge storm throughout, which gives the impression that the world is ending. The reason is not stated, so there's little depth and the dialogue isn't particularly memorable. The primary focus is the action and the often-repeated core message of "we are not the bad guys", as the two mercenary groups just do paid jobs.
I'd say it is the weakest of the episodes, and rather generic to my liking. Take it or leave it.

Have reviewed each episode of "Love, Death + Robots" and am a big video games guy, so thought I'd do the same process for Amazon's "Secret Level".
Crossfire is another game that I'm afraid has entirely passed me by, despite its global popularity. I have, however, played plenty of PvP shooters before and this felt very applicable to almost all of them.
A group of mercenaries prepare to defend a client awaiting extraction from a city largely evacuated dur to an incoming storm. A second group of armed soldiers prepare to try and engage the team, to secure a briefcase that the client is carrying, that contains a dangerous weapon. The morality of both sets of soldiers is questioned during an increasingly violent encounter.
Graphically this one was particularly impressive. Though I recognised the voices of Claudia Doumit and Matt Peters, when Ricky Whittle appeared he was recognisable as him even before he spoke. It's almost photo realistic with its human characters. Buildings, vehicles and explosions are good too, though they're easier to produce. The story though is a little underwhelming, just standard military stuff, though it does play with the idea that in most of these PvP games, you don't generally see yourself as the villain.
Fine, but standard stuff.
