Concord: Tale of the Implacable

This is basically Guardians of the Galaxy at home, which is what they wanted from Concord apparently....then decided to make a shooter game with next to no story line??? Either way thus was definitely a better direction for the world they created and has potential to be something if they did more with it.

To be out right honest it's not new, particularly special or good but easy entertainment. Coming off some of the previous episodes of Secret Level, it's not too bad by comparison and I genuinely think it would be more liked if it had no connection to the game. Guess this short little episode will have to be it for Concord.

I haven't played the game but heard plenty of backlash about it. For my part, I think this episode was fine-entertaining, but a bit too simple. It follows a predictable Guardians of the Galaxy-style setup, with a group of mercenaries hunting for fortune across the galaxy. The visuals are great and bring a conventional sci-fi world to life, simple and classic, but but wasnt that impressive as some other episodes. The story doesn't do much to stand out. A predictable story, characters undeveloped, forgettable and useless villains, it felt like there wasn't much to do with content. It tries some humor...but I'd say that the intro was the only fun and original part of the whole short story.

While enjoyable, it lacks depth and originality, making it a fine but forgettable entry in the anthology.

I think they should make a game based on this universe. It has a lot of promises and lore.

It has well defined characters and clear personalities. It would work so well as a hero shooter since everyone has a gun in this episode. There is big guy who can be tanks, sniper, it has everything, so what are we waiting for ?

I mean it has a lot to give I'm sure. I wish to see more of this lore like a weekly video where we learn more about those characters. That's something I'm sure people will love to see.

My only suggestion here, it has no robots and it's set up in a futuristic universe. So we could get a robot as character.

I have reviewed each episode of "Love, Death + Robots" and am a big video games guy, so thought I'd do the same process for Amazon's "Secret Level".

Poor "Concord". Despite Sony's evident high hopes few games have crashed and burned quite a spectacularly as this one, a team shooter that apparently wasn't bad, but was certainly unremarkable, and unable to chisel any audience from "Overwatch", and the likes, and was pulled completely two weeks after launch. I haven't played it and now I never will, so can't say how this episode fits into the story - but I will say that, on its own merits, this was pretty good.

Travel around the universe is controlled by the Guild, as they have the information about which routes are safe for faster than light travel. Cassidy (Leah Harvey) is a captive of the Guild, about to extract some of this information from a chip in her arm. She is rescued by her crew, though the rescue goes bad, and Cassidy appears lost. The crew decide to leave but find themselves pursued by an unreasonably large Guild armada.

I was surprised, from a bit of research, to be reminded that "Concord" was a team shooter, as I do think that this would lead you to believe that the game was about space exploration. It looks fantastic, with Axis studios doing a tremendous job - though the idea that the game might be cursed continues with the fact that the Scottish studio closed down last year. It's a beautiful blend of stylised realism. The story isn't bad either, it is longer than some of the other ones and, whilst only ever really being a precursor to a real story, it uses that extra time to full effect. With pre and post-script sections contextualising the story.

Whilst it's hard not to marvel at the hubris of making one of these for a game that wasn't even released at the time, let alone one that was a hit, in and of itself, this is actually one of the best episodes.
