No proof. Just a probably fictional story.
Despicable episode. There is no mystery. No event that needs to be solved or one that has been solved by the episode's subject matter.
We're simply told a few stories about trips to haunted locations. No original footage.
Funny that everyone involved in these stories/trips has spent years involved in paranormal investigations, of course they have a stake and emotional investment to want to believe what they think they feel.
The so called skeptics of Don aren't really skeptics. They're either in on this scam or stupidly vulnerable
This episode might have scored a 5/10 if there was an actual case that Don assisted with, or if they spent the latter half with a completely independent non-belieber scrutinising and testing all aspects of these people's work.
Recorders play a big part in "proving" an entity is real, but as a lot of viewers point out: Have an actual non-believer with the team, once they get to the location, open a pair of brand new recorders and see how true it is.
One of the worst episodes there will ever be in the UM series.

Paranormal partner?
This guy is so full of crap! Oh all of these profound voices, even ones claimed to be heard by the sound guy but yet not nothing to replay to the audience? The whole thing about the Jin (eye roll) absolute garbage. Oh, ok you have a lady talking to you that died in a plane crash in 1985, just some random lady?... Ridiculous.
Nothing about what was shown gave any credence to the actual claims that this guy has this "spiritual person" talking to him and guiding him in any way.
Also, notice how there is no mention made of how much he/they charge to use his "gifts" to help others... This episode should not have been added.
Do better guys...

This episode denigrates the series
This episode is a grifter talking absolute ***** for nearly an hour. Supposed scientific experiments sound like they've been devised by three mates in a pub. There is absolutely no unexplained mystery here other than how this managed to pass various levels of sign off and made it on to TV. If this is the standard to expect going forward then they need to just cancel the show now.
However, if you're gullible and easily swayed by terms like "energy" "portals" "frequencies" then you're in for a treat. It's heavy on smoke and mirrors, cheap parlour tricks and presenting absolute BS as unobjectionable fact.

Con artists?
This was a bizarre one because I knew from the moment I began this episode, it would cause speculation and severe doubt. Paranormal investigations will always cause doubt because of how many hoaxes, scams, and con artists are out there taking advantage of people to believe in lies. The moment Don started talking about hearing voices and energies, my first thought was schizophrenia. Then he brought up this 'Becky' a dead school teacher who was more than a spirit but a guide and had latched herself to him? What?! Ghosts don't latch onto people and know the unknown, demons do. Entities do. Not ghosts. It's hard to know if every single person they interviewed and most likely paid is in it for the money and fame and glory but to me, they didn't need the time of day.
Shaky fit but decent entertainment
I can understand why many fans had a negative response to this episode, as the subject matter is suited to an old Derek Acorah show more than the revival of Unsolved Mysteries. However, given the shift in tone for the last batch of episodes, I can at least say this installment is entertaining and well-paced, which isn't the case for some of the other episodes of late (like Mothman or the cattle mutilations). I also don't think this episode weakens the show, because it's not really a show with a steady foundation in the first place - they do a few episodes a year then go dark. There's so much true crime content out there on a much faster timetable than these seasons have been made, I'm not surprised they are trying new approaches. If the show does get another season, maybe they can look back and improve the product, but if they don't, this was at least a diverting way to spend 40 minutes.
