A short but fun indie drama about friendships and scrappy fun with some interesting direction choices presented, atmosphere and two fun performances from Lena Gora and Charli xcx.
Using handheld camera presentation and somewhat abstract filmmaking, Pete Ohs crafts something simple yet special. Taking a narrative about basic friendships and girls being girls, but adding some interesting themes, layers and symbolic commentary throughout, which makes the uniqueness and at times, weirdness special and engaging. I really enjoy the two performances Gora and Charli presents as the two offers some great charm and chemistry between one another. Top it off with the fun dialogue and atmosphere style presented throughout.
Now for the runtime being less then 80 mintues, I kind of do wish some aspects could have been improved. Particularly character development and some of the creative choices with the writing that I thought could have used some work.
However, for a low budget flick, it still succeeds with its indie presentation and purpose. Overall, it's fun but I guarantee Charli does have potential on being a good actor for the future.
