Baby, Hold Your Hand

I love how they use CGI on anime adaptation. Its look amazing with the graphic as well. The story of this episode is one of my favourite from tybw arc. I love how they animated it. Look so much alive with the cgi works. It meet my expectations. Everything from this episode. The background music, the voice actor and the camera view as well. It so much to expect from those but they did it great. I can't imagine how amazing the next episode will if this already been good. The title from this episode too, and Nemu screen time on next episode. I can't wait to watch it. I hope it will be good as this episode.

I mean, the story adaptation was on point, they actually adapted the fight perfectly and it was awesome to hear Mayuri's voice on a fight again and for all that it certainly deserves a 10, but also we have to criticise the animation (which has been near perfect this hole cour) because in this episode it was kinda bad (talking about the 3D scenes), it looked incomplete and very much different than the rest of the cour, of course the 2D animation was still on point, but I believe that the 3D ones looked like if it was made by a fan.

Still great episode, story 9.5/10, fight 10/10, animation 6.5/10.

Another week another interesting episode, Soul king left arm power in full display well to be honest it's such a broken ability I always thought the way it did to soul king shield when senjumaru summoned it it can easily did the same to one of the main cast members but as usual some plot armour came and main cast get away with it but it wasn't the case the way he did to zaraki it was amazing to see.

Mayuri on the other side is such an irritating man, whenever he fights it's almost all talk but an Altered bankai that was so like him though i don't think so it's the end for pernida but it was good.

My one complaint in all of the tybw uptill now is lack of teaming up why are they just going 1v1 when they know they are in enemy territory and they use reishi from the world it's not about your pride bruh it's three worlds on the line Yamamoto, renji,and now mayuri, I really wanted to see madarame bankai but I don't think so we are going that route now as mostly there are 1v1 and ikkaku cant handle anyone alone .

But overall again another good if not great episode.

Its my third attempt to make this review since the 2 previous times i either closed the tab or my internet connection was lost but whatever.

Honestly, not that great of an episode but still not that bad "bad".

So lets go over this episode a bit more to analyze it, see its good and bad parts and come to a conclusion about the rating.( WARNING: there are some small spoilers about the episode included)

Lets start with the cons/drawbacks of this episode. With the most obvious one being non-other than animation and hardly a 6/10 cgi. Especially with the previous episode having much better cgi, hope they didnt spend all their budget on the first 7 episodes. From the start of the episode something was feeling off about the animation till we got some minutes into it and for me especially when Pernida having his/its/hers(idk) head cut in half and regenerating, this was the moment when i realized that this episode wasnt going to be as good as the previous ones, and it only kept getting worse. Pernida's hand is as awfully animated if not worse as Sajin's true form(or whatever its called) in episode 2x4. The animation felt incomplete and rushed on an extrordinarily weak level compared to the rest of the cour as if they were trying to save budget and humiliate Mayuri once again, same as the 2 episodes completely focused on him in the previous cour having the worst cgi they could possible give him and the lowest, third lowest rating in the title feels like the animators dont like that much.

Also another con/drawback of this episode is the pace in my opinion wihch corresponds to the animation aswell. Seeing something that looks so bad you just cant but to wait for it to end slowly and painfully. This episode felt boring with little to no good scenes. They dragged out specific scenes for too long with ugly animation to i guess fill the 23 minutes of the episode while other episodes hardly get past the 20 minute mark of new content?

Before going to the pros/benefits of the episodes i wanna point out the "just fine" to "ok" categories of the episode. The story of the episode aint bad, its a good fight with a lot of complexity in it(what else would you expect from bleach) and interesting/awaiting scenes that have you on the edge of your seat to see how they will be developed, something i enjoyed about this episode.

Now lets talk about the better parts of the episode. The monologues, dialogues of Mayuri are simply beyond the level of this episode, exceeding it to surpass any other episode of this cour on the writing part. Mayuri being smartest/second smartest in the verse makes a good writing, his fight with Pernida was full of it, explaining Pernida's abilities and how to defeat him perfectly, this also adds the the great fight whichw as held back from the underwhelming animation.

Mayuri's voice actor was amazing, easily a 9/10 for him on the acting category as he gives perfect or near perfect speeches but... I could keep but notice what a deviously bad work they did with Pernida's voice, felt like a cheap voice changer you can download for free in under 10 minutes and troll in a call with your friends, so i had to remove at least half a point for this.

Lastly, regarding this ending i have very mixed feelings about it. The final scene with Mayuri finally taking those weird ahh clothes off felt reassuring that old Mayuri is back ready for any opponent he is put up against. Tho, i also have some negative comments how we get to this point of the episode. The ending felt really rushed with bad storytelling and Mayuri just having an ability to end the fight with Pernida in no time with lazy directing just to finish the episode in time after all those dragged out scenes earlier.

Now lets break down the rating of the episode. Starting off with a 6/10 as a base rating, i will give a point for the acting and story combined(+1), i will also give a point and a half(+1.5) and another half point for the ending(+0.5) getting the rating to a 8.5-9/10. Definetely removing a point for the absurd pace(-1) and removing at least another point for the animation(-1). Overall i give this episode an 8/10 and deeply hope that it gets above 8 stars rating on imdb because scamming Mayuri out of another great moment for his character with a low rating feels wrong. By the time im finishing this review after finishing the episode i went to check it on imdb and it has a 9.9/10(with 110 votes) which will substantially fall tomorrow when a rating is concluded in around 8 or so hours.

My only problem with this episode was simply the few scenes in animation, the 3d animation at times definitely felt a bit off, which took away from the episode. However, a great adaptation, Mayuri is loads of fun to watch battle, and was just generally quite entertaining.

The fight was pure cinema, if they had took an extra bit of time to work on those 3D animations it would've been a 10/10 in my opinion, because that simply was the only thing holding it back. Really excited to see how this gets fleshed out in later episodes however. Great seeing Mayuri back, once again.

Overall a 9/10, very solid episode.
