Old Money

I would love to know what nationality are people whose reviews were and all negative. Have you people watched Turkish series before? If you watched, you think the only issue in this show is smoking and drinking? Ridiculous. Have you watched Netflix at all? Which reality you are living in? The world smokes, and drinks alcohol, get over it. Türkiye's world is so diverse, it is a shame that it's not explored enough in the show. For example, I would love to know more about the history of the families who came from old money. Who is Nihal's mother, other ties with the old money families? I felt like a lot of scenes were wasted when they should be used, for example, telling us out more about the yacht industry?! Anyway, the show was an absolute delight to watch, great photography, and all the actors were up to the task! I am not Turkish, but I know their history very well, being born in Macedonia, and now I live in Australia where I had a chance to meet a lot of Turkish people. I sure hope that the love story will continue, and has his own happy epilogue. O, and 10 stars for the fashion. Especially Asli. !0 out of 10!!

I really liked cast, actress and actors work. But there is a lot of gaps and untold parts of stories. Also a lot of questions didn't answered. I was angry at the and of it. Music was great also. Especially Nihal's story and her relation with mom and the freezing dialog with dad and the backstory of all these were not on movie. It could be something different and original but story was quite insufficient and unfinished.

There was too much smoking and drinking. The music shouldn't have been in English, it should've been instrumental or Turkish. All the songs felt extremely out of place, and the choices were poor. The chemistry between Osman and Nihal didn't work. Berna and Arda had much better chemistry. I only watched it because I'm a fan of Engin Akyurek. The story was very cliché and most parts were boring. They should've just ended it instead of leaving an opening for a second season.

Since the release of Old money on Netflix, Engin Akyürek has been gaining international visibility.

But to what purpose?

The series delivers exactly what a certain, mostly female audience seeks: emotion, seduction, sensuality.

Engin is magnetic-irresistible, charismatic, and undeniably bankable.

Yet, what becomes of the true breadth of his talent? His depth? His artistic and literary commitment?

From Fatmagül to Kaçis (whose story he himself wrote), and Godspeed, his works have always been infused with conviction, humanity, and meaning.

But since the second season of Adim Farah, one senses him drifting-lost in overacting and forced mannerisms.

It's a squandered opportunity to show the world the complex, committed, and sensitive actor he truly is.

The direction, fixated on individual performance, could have been more generous, more profound, more daring.

Engin deserved better.

A missed chance to explore something deeper, more substantial.

He should have been offered an auteur's film-something demanding and poetic, like About Dry Grasses, carried so beautifully by the talented Merve Dizdar.

So, Engin, take back the reins of your career.

Give us once again a personal, sincere, and audacious work-something in the spirit of Kaçis.

Step away, just for a while, from romance-your talent is worthy of so much more.

I loved "Old Money" - the new Turkish series on Netflix with the brilliant Turkish actor Engin Akyurek. At first glance, it doesn't look like the traditional, long Turkish series, with episodes of over 2 hours, a lot of drama, etc. It was made in accordance with Netflix standards, which was to be expected. Despite being created within these limited (for Turkish standards) frames, "Old Money" manages to convey to its viewers strong and profound messages and, more importantly, manages to touch the viewers' souls, to bring them emotions and to make them very empathetic to the story and the characters (something that is typical, in general, for the Turkish series, in my opinion).

I liked the music, direction, cinematic scenes, and of course the acting of all actors, especially Engin Akyurek, the chemistry between him and Asli Enver. I liked the relations, support and love between the members of the Bulut family, as well as many other things they were bringing as representatives of the "new money" world. Their struggles were also very real and understandable. The whole story was believable, realistic. Attention was paid to each detail - for example the music chosen at each moment, the memories coming from the past at the right moments... I highly recommend "Old Money" to people from abroad - feelings and emotions have no nationality, they don't need translation...
