Made propaganda of genocide issue, shame on you!
While the series initially captivated viewers with its intricate plot and well-developed characters, the ending diverged significantly from the original narrative, leaving fans both confused and disappointed.
The decision to involve Korea in a geopolitical subplot felt unnecessary and out of place, especially in a story that had previously been more personal and character-driven.
Overall, while the series had its strong moments, the final episode failed to deliver a conclusion that honored the original narrative's depth and intent. It's a disappointing end to a show that had so much potential.

Watching When the Phone Rings was like answering a call from a telemarketer-it's annoying, pointless, and leaves you wondering why you didn't hang up sooner. The drama had so much potential, but every single aspect of it fell flat.
The plot was a convoluted mess. It's as if the writers spun a wheel of clichés and decided to use all of them at once. Nothing made sense, and the so-called twists were so predictable that I guessed half of them from the first episode. Speaking of episodes, why did it feel like each one lasted an eternity? The pacing was excruciatingly slow, dragging out meaningless scenes while skipping over anything remotely interesting.
The characters were unbearable. Not a single one was likable or relatable. The main lead? Annoying. The supporting cast? Forgettable. The villain? Laughably bad. The dialogue was so cringe-worthy it made me physically uncomfortable. How is it possible for every line to sound so forced and unnatural?
The production didn't help either. The lighting was so dark I could barely see what was happening half the time, and the camera work looked like it was handled by someone who'd never held a camera before. Don't even get me started on the overdramatic background music, which kicked in at the most inappropriate moments, making the drama unintentionally comedic.
Overall, When the Phone Rings was an unwatchable disaster. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. If your phone rings while you're about to watch this, do yourself a favor and answer it. Whatever's on the other end will be far more enjoyable than sitting through this train wreck.

I am wondering if the budget for the writers ended around episode 10 may be? I have watched many, many kdramas in the last three years and this is by far THE WORST closure of all. Simply awful...
The story makes no sense, it seems that the person in charge of writing this didn't read the script from the previous episodes, just learned about the story from what others told them. The characters development, the story, everything was threw away.
The only thing the writers have on their favor and for what they deserve credit for, is the creativity and effort they had to put in order to destroy this show.
My humble advice, watch until episode 10 and imagine any, ANY, ending. Anything your can imagine will be better than this garbage...

Everyone is involved here, and it's very unprofessional. During all my time watching K-dramas, this is the first time it's been so bad. Both the writer, the cast, and all the staff-do they not see how bad this drama is? From the storyline to the cast, it makes no sense at all. I regret watching this drama; it's such a shame. The plot is poorly developed, and the character arcs are either rushed or nonexistent. The production quality feels lazy, and there's no effort to engage the audience. It's disappointing because I had high hopes for this. A complete waste of time and potential. Truly awful.
I was enjoy the overflowing chemistry of all the actresses and actors until it came to the final episode. Using Paltima and Izmael as a gimmick to depict the real-life genocide currently happening is highly problematic. While it is a work of fiction, it becomes propaganda when such unnecessary scenes are included, potentially leading people to gradually believe this misinformed narrative. I am unsure of the exact purpose behind this scene, but it was an extremely unwise choice, especially regarding such a sensitive issue as humanity and ethics. Perhaps in the future, the K-Drama industry should prioritize thorough research and a more thoughtful consideration of humanity rather than capitalism and popularity before tackling such topics. What a shame.
