The gift of new season seems to remind the feelings of The Savior in the Holy Week. You know very well the events and their roots and their development. But each of them is part of same body. The final question , the question of Juda, defines this.
In same measure, return to explanations about Temple , about perspective of Caiaphas to fix the situation - in clash against Irod perspective - , the grief of Rama s parents and all having, as a sort of frame, the Last Supper.
More than the familiar episode but the fall in womb of dramatic events of the final of His mission.

After the first two episodes, I've been disappointed. They added so much filler and cultural discussions that it's hard to discern the Biblical parts that I love about this series.
My examples: "Can I call you Joe?". Jesus cracking a whip in the temple area like a old school western. Peter trying to preach a sermon and faltering while his fellow disciples try and lift him up. Caiaphas discussion of the politics of killing Jesus.
And those are just a few
I know the producers and writers had to create content to fill out multiple episodes and interesting content but there's so much of that it kind of blurs my grasping the real story and what made earlier episodes so great.
I gave this a 7 because I've loved watching earlier episodes and I hope that they return to the more Biblical centered content.

If you're going to watch any of Season 5 in theaters, this part 2 is the part to watch:
*The sadness and grief of Jesus, showing how he grieves sometimes with our 'fallen' state and how we sometimes don't understand spiritual perspectives or the truth of God's perspective and infinite wisdom.
*The additional sadness and weight Jesus feels on his soul as he knows his crucifixion is fast approaching.
*Among that frustration, for him to see the ineffectiveness, pride and sinfulness of so many (including the highest religious leaders who didn't care for the people or God's compassion and Word for His people), forgetting that God's temple is a holy place... then to see Jesus make a whip and display full anger at the temple, destroying all of that... and confronting the Pharisees so VERY BOLDLY... was amazing and even something that made our mouths drop!
Well done.

Episode 2
We start with Mary and Tamar in the market meeting fellow gentiles. They explain Passover. The high priest and I believe Ozem have a long conversation about the effects of Jesus. Finally Jesus becomes angry at the behaviour of the crowds as it is a place for worship not business!
That's the overall plot of episode 2, most of it is grand but the minute Jesus is on screen again it's wow. Seeing this anger is new, the frustration of people not listening to him has all funnelled out as he takes on EVERYONE.
Also the high priest and Roman chat was also really engaging dialogue for about 10 minutes which was interesting.
8/10.

- TriviaJonathan Roumie trained for 15 hours with Whip Master Anthony De Longus. The scene with Jesus ripping the table leg wraparound (which Jonathan got it on the first take) Dallas has planned some plan B's in case it didn't work out.. no one expected that he'd get it on the first take but Jonathan NAILED it AND a cameraman was in the exact spot to get a perfect take. He had fun with it as well as it was a bit of stress relief (he did end up hitting himself with the whip a few times at first and ended up getting welts on his back, face, legs and chest) he also ended up getting scrapes from flipping the tables.
