From the opening moments, the tension is palpable. The episode expertly balances heart-pounding action sequences with deeply introspective character moments. Steven Yeun's portrayal of Mark Grayson continues to be a tour de force, capturing the character's internal struggle with a raw vulnerability that is both captivating and heartbreaking. The supporting cast shines as well, with each performance adding layers of depth to the intricate narrative.
The writing is exceptional, weaving together multiple plot threads with seamless precision. The episode tackles themes of responsibility, sacrifice, and the blurred lines between good and evil with a maturity and nuance that is rarely seen in animated series. The emotional weight of the episode is immense, and the writers do not shy away from the brutal realities of the "Invincible" world.
The animation, while sometimes receiving critiques, in this episode, the artistic direction elevates the story to new heights. The visceral fight scenes are breathtakingly choreographed, and the character designs are expressive and impactful. The sound design and musical score further enhance the emotional impact of each scene, creating an immersive and unforgettable viewing experience.
This episode is not just a spectacle of superhero action; it's a deeply human story that explores the complexities of morality and the consequences of power. The episode leaves you on the edge of your seat, and reeling from the emotional impact. This episode is a defining moment for the "Invincible" series, and a testament to the power of animated storytelling. It is a must watch for any fan of the show, and a shining example of how to do superhero stories correctly. This episode has placed itself amongst the best of the entire series.
This episode has absolutely everything you want in a superhero show of this level. It's got good humour, incredible action, a killer soundtrack, incredible writing, a constantly moving story, extremely high stakes, and it even made me shed a tear!
Not only is it the best episode of Season 3, but it's also the best episode of the entire series since the final two episodes of Season 1, which is saying a lot in itself. It looks like Invincible could be a top contender for the best comicbook series of all time, if it manages to deliver another episode nearly on this level!

- TriviaIn the original source material, one of the Invincible variants (specifically the one wearing Viltrumite uniform without the mustache) was engaged in combat with popular comic book character Spawn as both Invincible and Spawn are characters created by Image Comics. Despite their shared origin from the same comic publisher, Spawn does not appear in this episode and was swapped out with the character Wolfman who originated in Image Comics "Astounding Wolfman".
- ErroresRae shrinks out of her street clothes (which fall to the ground) to change into her hero outfit, but her street clothes disappear right after that.

Conquest: Stand ready for my arrival, worm.
[Invincible looks up to see Conquest floating above him]
Conquest: You were given orders. You were given time. You were given more leeway than most, and yet, I find this planet unprepared for the arrival of our Viltrum Empire.
Invincible: This isn't a good time.
Conquest: The Empire anticipated your resistance, which is why they sent me. I am Conquest, and I am your last chance to fulfill your duty.
Invincible: You don't understand. All this? This is my fault. So, the only thing I want to do right now is hit something as hard as I can.
Conquest: Mm. Good.
