Alright, this is interesting. While some approached zombie genre with all seriousness, this one offer a fresh take, rather unserious, to it.

I love zombie movies, The Walking Dead was my favorite, where I binge watched all the episodes while rooting for the characters to stay alive - and stay true. So when I saw my favorite K-actress took this project, I couldn't help myself but to get excited.

Jisoo took a role as an engineer-graduate working a 9-5. She has a boyfriend, Jaeyoon, who is in military. It was a complicated relationship.

This was a mere introduction to the story and as expected, not much yet going on. But I want to highlight the scene where they 'almost' broke up. That one was a real touching scene, made beautifully without the exaggeration; twisted in a little humor between Youngjoo and her mom. Overall, a promising opening, can't wait for the enxt episode!

Wow, where do I even start? Episode 1 of Newtopia was totally bad. The pacing was painfully slow, the plot felt like it was going nowhere, and the humor? Just ridiculous. I don't know who thought those jokes would land, but they definitely didn't work for me. The characters felt flat, the dialogue was cringy, and overall, it was just boring

And the biggest disappointment? We didn't even see any zombies. For a show that's supposed to be about surviving in a zombie-infested world, How do you mess that up in the very first episode?

I honestly hope Episode 2 does something more because this was a rough start. Let's see if they can turn it around.

I had heard reviews from pre-screening that the 1st episode was slow paced, and it is, but it makes sense to clearly showcase each character's situation and problems. We get where Jaeyoon and Youngjoo come from and why they're breaking up - even without truly seeing how they feel in love, I felt real devastation when they broke up. I didn't think that I would like the military squad from the trailers but I'm pleasantly surprised. They have distinct personalities that all gel well together (or not hehe). I personally loved the camera movements, making even normal conversations between 3 people so artistic and beautiful.

I find it very refreshing, usually zombie dramas/movies are dark and heavy, but this one is different. It offers a new genre with zombies which I don't think is possible until this drama came out. It has a comedic vibe which I found really fresh and weirdly interesting which piques my interest every episode. The acting of main characters are good to especially Jisoo which considered as newbie when in terms of acting, she can adjust and blend well with her co actors and have a good chemistry around her. I'm looking forward for her in the next episodes. I hope the storyline sustains until the end. We BLINKS are proud for Jisoo. Fighting!
