As Reacher takes the reins as the Number Two he is finally coerced into revealing the back story of Dominique. We know she didn't survive her confrontation with the evil that Reacher is now facing off against. This may be a bit repetitive for some viewers, but if action is going to be taken, we need to have the foundation--as do his superiors (if there is anything superior to Jack).
Reacher is becoming more involved in the day to day things, but some of his actions are drawing suspicion, especially from the worst of the worst.
Of course, we have the narrative hook again as danger is at the doorstep as things finish. This is more transitional.

This episode provided the necessary backstory to explain why Reacher has such animosity and hatred towards Xavier Quinn. I won't spoil it, but Quinn actions made the stakes very personable for Reacher. It appears the only reason fans of the show are downvoting this episode, is due solely to the race of Reacher's protege. It's absolutely ridiculous.
We get to see the nefarious plans Quinn was up to, and just how far he twists the screws to those who work for him. He gives them no choice but to carry out his deeds. When we get to the confrontation between Reacher and Quinn, it begs the question just exactly how did Quinn survive the aftermath. I'm sure at some point, we will get the answers from Quinn himself, the next time he and Reacher go toe to toe.

Maria Robinson is incredibly miscast. No idea why they are trying to make her match Reacher's ability and stone cold attitude, but it just does not fit. He at least has an underlying element of charm. Dominique, however, is a very rigid and unlikable character in a show otherwise filled with a wide variety of personality. It's practically unwatchable. This episode doesn't even feel like Reacher anymore. It's just tons of backstory that you will have trouble not fast forwarding through. Do yourself a favor: skip it and catch up on the minor plot points in the next episode, and pray that they are finished with Dominique!
The 7 rating is only for season 1.
Season 1 was great in my opinion, stellar acting, good premise and Ritchson as Reacher was a breath of fresh air.
Season 2 was terrible and honestly quite pathetic. Bad writing, bad acting and plot points that felt completely out of place. The villain barely had any screen time and felt completely pointless in the season.
Season 3 is the final straw for me. Terrible writing, horrible acting and cheap sets. I wish I only watched season 1 and kept it at that, because everything else has been a waste of time. I'll finish season 3 but after that, I'm done watching Reacher.

Best episode of the season, the flashbacks might be cheesy to some, but they are always amazing and takes you in instantly.
The vibes I got from watching season 1 were back in this episode, and I loved it! I originally thought that Quinn might be and old character recurring, but him being a new character made it a bit more exiting and adding on the layer of his psychological background makes you truly believe this guy is capable of anything. I think this might be the only flashback episode of the season, but it was needed to set up the villain - I was not invested in "Quinn" as a character before this episode - now I want to see Reacher kill him so badly.
