Who does the casting in this show? They should be fired! The Rock N' Roll dad that's suppose to be an ass? The Jimmy guy "Lucas Neff" dosn't sell it at all. Nothing against "Lucas Neff" I'm sure he is a great actor. But, between the writing for the soon or possibly soon x-husband and the casting choice is just awful! He comes in with gifts and hugging the kids. WTF? My dad NEVER gave us hugs. He was a real ass. For the past four seasons they built this guy up to be a greesy, rock n roll groupies dad. Then you get this guy that is totally afraid of Matt and seems to be semi-good dad, and wears sweater vests. COME ON! Off the top my head, Santiago Cabrera would have been a much better choice. And, a bigger part is the writing. Who writes that this dad comes in with gifts, flowers, and hugs! WOW.
And then casting Kat Dennings as the bad girl daughter. Kat Dennings may want to play the bad girl but, she can't sell it. The only way it was sorta believable and I mean sorta was because in 2 Broke Girls you had Beth who was ultra sweet and so annoying. Now, that Kat has aged, her voice and demeanor just does not sell it. She would be much better off playing a normal, sweet character. I was watching "Mom" and Sadie Calvano who played Violet sold it! Her demeanor and pouty face. She would have been amazing in this roll. The only sellable casting choice in this series in Seann Scott. He sells being a grease monkey. Daryl Mitchell is great too but, he is more of a B character in the show. At least so far. Not one of the top characters. The only good part about this episode is they left out the politics finally. Enough with the politics! That's what made Home Improvement, the original Roseanne, Growing Pains, Big Bang Theory, Mom, Charmed, great. They kept politics out of it!
