Let me preface this review by stating that I am not a fan of zombie-themed entertainment. While I am a horror-lover, I do not find zombies - or vampires, for that matter - to be particularly frightening. Plus, they've been done to death (haha). Particularly recently.
That said, when I saw the pilot featured on Hulu I didn't have high hopes. Still, I had some time to kill, so I gave it a try, and I'm really glad that I did. As of today (3/30/15) there are only two episodes out, but I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I found the show to be quirky and the actors likable. The show follows a fairly standard "solve a murder an episode" format, couched in an overarching "figure out Zombism" / "are there others? and, if so, how many?" plot.
For some reason, the vibe I get from iZombie is similar to 'Pushing Daisies,' which I count as a major plus. The first two episodes definitely left me wanting more, though it's more for the charm and entertainment value than any real curiosity of the major storyline's advancement.
I am definitely suggesting that my friends watch this show, and I have high hopes that it will continue to be enjoyable. I do have some reservations that it may start to focus too heavily on convoluted romantic hijinks, but I am hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised.

You may think "another zombie show, how boring!". There are way too many zombie shows out there nowadays. Thats true. But you might give that one a try. It doesn't try to be "special" by giving the zombie a different name like "walkers" or something. That would suggest that people didn't know what a zombie is but i digress...
usually the zombies are just the enemies but this time the zombie is actually the hero which solves crimes! But of course not all zombies are friendly! In short a cop/crime show with zombies.
Most characters are very likeable and well cast. And the bad guys are really great too! Especially David Anders. He is always a great bad guy. The whole cast work great together. Nothing to complain.
The story arc is mostly good. Some Elements change over time and most characters also go through some changes. This way they avoid repeating themselfs too often.
Best would be to just watch the first two episodes. After that you will know if you like it or not.
My true rating would be something like a 7.8 maybe so i'm giving it an 8.

The first 3 1/2 seasons were fabulous. Great premise and stories, and very creative. The last season and a half, were not nearly as good, once they walled of Seatle. I like the comedy in this series a lot. Sometimes it was in your face, sometimes subtle. For instance, the main characters name Olivia Moore, or as what she goes by Liv Moore! Or the evil corporation, Fillmore Graves! LOL.
I have to confess I came to this show expecting camp Zombie chick, adolescent angst drama.
Well, I was mostly wrong. Certainly I do believe this series may have more appeal to women than men but only by a small margin. Its certainly got some chick flick elements, issues with the boyfriend and mum, but beyond that its got a whole lot more to offer too.
The extras, if you can call them that include top notch writing. The characterizations in iZombie are, in particular highly polished. The main characters are genuinely witty and engaging, in a very understated, down to earth way.
This is topped off with reasonable storytelling and acting from the lead and supporting cast.
All in all a very likable series I plan to keep on watching. A well earned seven out of ten from me.

IZombe is so much better than it has any business being. I never watched it when it was in the air because I always thought it was a show aimed at tweens but after hearing and reading enough good things about it I thought I'd finally give it a chance. I'm glad I did because I had a lot of fun watching this series. It's such an original show that combines the zombie genre with the crime genre and succeeds in doing so. It has a much lighter tone than other zombie shows like The Walking Dead so if you're explaining show like that then you'll be disappointed. This show will make you laugh more than scare you. It knows what kind of show it is and has no problem making fun of itself.

- TriviaZombies Liv (Rose McIver) and Blaine (David Anders) are shown eating brains in almost every episode. McIver and Anders have repeatedly stated in interviews that the "brains" are made out of gelatin and have a very unpleasant taste; both actors have stated that they use spit buckets after each brain-eating scene.
- ErroresLiv, Blaine, and Angus are the only regularly seen zombies to consistently have pale skin and white hair. Even after the city is cut off from the rest of the world most zombies, besides some background extras, have a constant supply of hair dye and tanning beds, despite mass shortages being a major plot point in the latter two seasons.
