When first starting this, I thought it was great, seeing Kobe overcome adversity, but it was quick to switch and start throwing dirt onto Kobe's name. This probably wouldn't have been made if he was still alive, the makers should be ashamed of themselves for doing so. They built a narrative that made it sound like Kobe was a bully to the alleged victim. District attorneys and reporters and random no name women making claim as if winning is everything and that's the only reason he was never convicted. It's 2025 now so that's probably why they're coming out with this in an attempt to smear all over his hard work and dedication. I hope producers never make anything ever again, they deserve the worst. RIP Kobe, Black Mamba, Mamba Mentality.
If you're a Kobe fan and/or sports fan, this is not the documentary for you.
Now, if you're into litigation and wanna see almost a whole 2 episodes of Kobe's sexual allegations case, you've selected the perfect documentary.
They completely brush over his championships, his toughest rivalries, notable moments in the NBA, etc. They focus so much on the sexual allegations case, it's almost like they want Kobe to ONLY be remembered for that in a negative context. It's odd.
Did not see what me or anybody would hope to see. It's practically clickbait. You're better off watching The Last Dance twice than even a second of this. Who green lights this crap?

I'm not the biggest Kobe fan but I love basketball. With a title like "Kobe: making of a legend". I expected to see highlights, a back story of how he got his work, what made him competitive, and basketball related subject matter. Instead they focused on an allegation that was dismissed. In what sense does dedicating a whole portion of this documentary to the false claims contribute to his legendary legacy. To me. It was a documentary that said "he was a great basketball player but let's not forget about that one time".
This was incredibly poorly done. Too much focus was on the negative and almost zero attention to what made Kobe a legend on the court. The games, the titles, the battles with Sacramento, San Antonio, Boston,
and others - nothing. No interviews with teammates, coaches, opponents... nothing.
"Oh by the way he won 5 championships, made 17 all-star games, and was an MVP finalist many times."
In watching this you'd have no idea he played for Phil Jackson, butted heads with Shaq, teamed up with Pau...
Instead, we spent half the time in Eagle County, bickering with his parents, and a little time during his final season as he went on his farewell tour.
2/10 at best.

Kobe with a countless number of accolades that made him a legend were not highlighted during the first 3 episodes. Instead, they focus on a case that was dismissed. This documentary doesn't follow the journey of Kobe and his incredible feats. It's a documentary made to tarnish the reputation of a man that isn't alive to defend himself, and when he was (spoiler alert) the law sided with him. This series seems to rely on "shock value" to keep you watching. As if it's sharing unreleased information that hasn't been around for 20+ years. This isn't even a basketball documentary it's a crime show. Lastly, the DA who was in charge of the case was interviewed. Not shaq, not his wife, not Jordan, not bron, not any significant player or family member that assisted him to become a legend. A DA that did not propel Kobe in anyway. Disgusting.
¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaThis documentary has no mention of Bryant's feud with Shaquille O'Neal.
