Death: The High Cost of Living

"Death: The High Cost of Living" caught me off guard in the best way. It's quiet, honest, and deeply human. Didi isn't what you expect from Death-she's better. Warm, sharp, and strangely comforting. The episode doesn't try to impress with spectacle; it just sits with you, reminds you that being alive-really living-still means something. One of the most thoughtful hours of TV I've seen in a long time.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I popped this on.

It's beautiful but tragic.

I'm unsure how to feel. The episode made me cry, sadness but maybe relief?

Death was portrayed exceptionally well.

I do think it has made me see another point of view.

It's thought provoking. The episode is fantastic. Pleasantly surprised.

Here I was, in a dark space with dark thoughts. Who would have thought that I'd have a profound experience with this standalone episode of The Sandman.

This is the importance of art, to get gears turning whereas they otherwise would not be.

Admittedly, I was going to skip over this episode given the lackluster finale of season ii, but im glad curiosity got the better of me.

It spoke to me as needed: a prompt to get up off me bum and start living. Grateful.

Death was one of my favorite siblings. This explains why we should be happy to be living, when so many are not. Perfect explanation of life and death. I think a spinoff with the sandman's siblings and their jobs would have been great. I like the new sandman, but as a vampire, I liked the old one better. Maybe I just don't do well with change.

The poor casting choices come fully to the fore in this charmless and dull adaptation. Funny how the original comic series felt more cinematic than this effort. The godawful styling actually manages to make Colin Morgan look ugly, but it's the charisma-free lead who sucks all promise of interest out of the leaden episode. Manic Pixie Death Girl.
