When it comes to writing, there are two things you need to get right, set up of certain elements, ans paying those things you set up off. This episode does neither neatly and definitely could have benifited from further planning and edits to strengthen this episode's story. I won't get into spoilers but there are certain points in this episode that people or events appear suddenly, without warning, with barely a mention in the previous episode or further back in the season. And there are certain things that aren't paid off, with longer story lines left haning or ended in blink and you'll miss it moments or lamp shaded away by a line of exposition. This happened alot and it made the episode quite an interesting task to follow and at many points all semblence of caus and effect was lost and things just happened. It just felt like i was getting constant wiplash, the episode just too stuffed, doing way to much all at once. Still I am glad that at least certain plot threads built up in the two season before this episode get addressed. Even if it's with just a lamp shaded expositions sentence. It's a landing alright, a wibbly wobbly landing, but a landing. All I hope is that next season the narrative points are structured and plotted out more than the sometimes 'fly by the seat of your pants' writing style that this episode has. I think some may enjoy this but I do not. I think a bit more planning would have benefited the narrative stramlining the episode into a fun coherant narrative. There are hints of a good episode in here and or just saddens me that it is buried under so much fwomp.
Ncuti Gatwa's second season draws to a conclusion. Curiously every review I did took several days to be posted. So this time I decided to wait a few days to write one.
There was much speculation for weeks before the finale. Much to do with Disney's continued involvement with the show hanging up in the air. There was talk of extensive reshoots and a different contrived ending.
With the Doctor plummeting, he is rescued by a magical doorway. The Time Hotel.
Meanwhile the Rani continues her plans to free Omega under her watch.
That still leaves the mystery of Poppy which the Doctor and Belinda have to deal with.
It was all straightforward until the last twenty minutes or so.
The highlight was Mrs Flood's Two Rani's gag which riffed the beloved comedy duo, The Two Ronnies.
It then went on about Poppy but it did not stay there. Leading to a surprise return and then a shock reveal at the end.
The Reality War became messy at the end. How much was due to RTD dealing with circumstances will be revealed in later years.
You can guarantee one think with Doctor Who. It is always guaranteed to be bonkers at some point.

It's the season 2 finale of Doctor Who, and it's a big one! And also a pretty long one, considering the episode's an hour and 5 minutes long. But is that enough time to resolve everything?
Well, yes and no. The episode is essentially split into two halves. The first half involves dealing with stopping The Rani, which involves her plans to bring Omega out from the Underverse. Then the 2nd half involves dealing with the aftermath of all that, as well as resolving some loose ends.
And all I will say about the 2nd half of this episode is that it genuinely caught me off guard, taking twists and turns that I never saw coming.
That's not to say that this episode is perfect. There are some weird lines and moments within, as well as things feeling a bit rushed. That 1st half also has a feeling of "We gotta wrap this up and resolve everything before the end," as it does go by very fast. But personally, I had a great time watching this episode, and I hope you did, too. I can't wait to see what's in store for Doctor Who next.

Dr Who is one of those shows that is weighted down by its legacy and the nostalgia of previous adventures and favourite Dr's and companions. It's similar to the Star Wars original trilogy effect; that nothing that comes later is going to give the same connection or feeling. Sometimes you have to sit back and enjoy the ride you are on and look forward. If you keep looking in the rear view mirror the ride you are on is going to crash.
In a world of daily horrors, atrocities, unethical leaders and greedy billionaires, we need escapism. Dr Who is that escapism, sit back and enjoy. Save your righteous indignation for what's happening in the real world. That's where are energies should be directed.

This episode is very confusing. Down to the ending but it still manages to be pretty enjoyable. Sure Omega and the Rani weren't in it for too long but It still managed to make an impact on me. Not sure I really get some of it and in the end it left me wondering where exactly is the doctor who timeline anymore? And I know they are planning a spin off or something to release here soon but OMG I need to know what happens with the doctor next. That regeneration... This series disappoints me time and time again since disney took it over especially the season 1 finale. But I still keep watching it for gem episodes. And there are some pretty good ones I just wish they would stop doing GODS. Every other episode is a god and its getting kind of annoying. Can't you be more creative RTD?

- TriviaWhen the older version of The Rani (Anita Dobson) delivers her final line "So much for the two Ranis, and it's goodnight from me". This is a nod to a classic British comedy duo "The Two Ronnies" - Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. They presented a comedy sketch show in the UK in the 70s and 80s. They would always sign off at the end of each episode with the line "And it's goodbye from me. And it's goodbye from him".
