Solo Leveling Season 2, Episode 10 Review: "We Need a Hero"
Episode 10 of Solo Leveling Season 2 delivers an exciting mix of action and character development, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Jeju Island raid.
Plot & Character Development
Sung Jinwoo finally crafts the Elixir of Life, reviving his mother from her coma-an emotional moment that highlights his motivation beyond just power. Meanwhile, the Hunter Association gathers S-rank hunters for a dangerous mission on Jeju Island, overrun by monstrous ants. Jinwoo wrestles with the decision to join the raid, torn between protecting his mother and confronting the growing threats in the hunter world.
This episode also explores the emotional toll of hunting, particularly through Lee Joohee's decision to retire after experiencing the dangers firsthand. Jinwoo's transformation is evident as he begins to weigh his responsibilities, not just as a lone hunter but as someone who could change the course of battle.
Direction & Pacin
Director Shunsuke Nakashige skillfully balances emotional moments with intense build-up toward the Jeju Island raid. The episode moves swiftly, keeping viewers engaged while allowing key character moments to shine
Fans are buzzing about Jinwoo's next move-will he join the Jeju raid? His decision could mark a turning point in his journey. Speculations also swirl around how the upcoming battles will test his evolving abilities
Episode 10 is a turning point, masterfully blending personal stakes with the looming war against the ant monsters. As Solo Leveling builds momentum, fans are left eagerly anticipating what's next.

To all the people complaining about this episode being not as good as good as the manhwa are even lucky we got this in the anime. Solo leveling is adapting the light novel for the anime not the manhwa and we didn't even get all the fights in the start of this episode In the light novel. People need to stop complaining because sorry to tell you this but basically every anime ever isn't going to do still shots as well as the manga. Very big shocker right. And also would you guys want these fights to look out of this world or the fight we are getting at the end of the season that is the most hyped solo leveling episode yet. Some people don't deserve this anime of your complaining about this anime.
Disappointed with how the scene where they got stopped was animated and directed. You can feel Jinwoo's superiority much more in the manhwa, and the scene is way more devastating and impressive... such a shame. And most importantly! Why didn't they include the moment where Goto literally freaks out, sweats buckets, and says he literally saw death and thought it was his end? Maybe a choice from the writers, but still a shame. Can't wait for next week, though! However, I also understand the intention of maintaining a fast and dynamic pace, but sometimes I feel like they skip a bit too many scenes while keeping others that aren't really interesting. That's just my opinion !
So here we have the hyped up Jeju Island finally come and it was pretty good. The fights and choregraphy was nice as usual, though I wish the Goto-Jin Woo fight could have gone on for a bit longer since that was the highlight moment of the episode.
The healer guy just appearing felt a little sudden though and could have been set up more. And then BOOM! Fire, cool animation, ants getting ripped.
I think what's interesting about the show, is that deep down we know that the S-ranks aren't strong enough and Jin Woo is gonna have to show up. This goes against his happiness now, as his mother is cured and there's no longer any reason to fight.
So he's gonna have to, otherwise the nation will fall under attack and he's gonna have to fight to protect his loved ones anyway.
So overall I think the show's pretty interesting and the fights are good even though~
Its not the most deep and compelling piece of fiction of all time and the quality of episodes does vary significantly from COOL FIGHTS to boring slice-of-life featuring characters that no one cares about. The whole ant thing also kinda rips off HxH as well.
But I don't care and cool fights are enough for me. Last but not least, HOLY dam THAT ENDING WAS CRAZY.
9/10.

The Fight of Jinwoo vs Goto was actually greatly adapted in The manhwa they made goto seem really weak, now they made him and all other s rank hunters really seem Powerful i always underestimated them cuz they seemed really weak in the manhwa even tho they aren't so that was really amazing to see, Plus the long awaited reveal of beru is finally here im really excited for the next episodes now more than ever, not to mention the ending of the episode was Insane the animation studio did not hold back the gore so was really cool and terrifying to see how instantly she was gone, but the cliffhanger was a tough one but still acceptable, All an all A 10/10 episode for me.
