This episode had an specific audience and I was not in it. The kindest thing I can say is: I'm happy some of yall enjoyed it.
That being said, none of the characters acted like themselves. You could have changed Morty's and Jerry's name on the script and it would have been the same. The post credits scene was effectively a "he's right behind me, isn't he?". The dialogue between the two guest stars was just bad. This was Rise of the Numbericons all over again. Some of this new season has first draft all over it but this one? Oof, this one should have been left in the cutting room floor.
"People like slop, so this episode is slop and if you complain about it you are impossible to please who thinks they are the smartest person in the world" being the core of an episode is... not good, for lack of a word that won't get this review deleted
I was glad my husband was too sick to watch this one with me yesterday, he would have dropped the show altogether.

This was a weird episode. I don't like to criticize animation, but here it just felt weird and rushed. I can recall them reusing clips and having some weird movements. The sound work could also be better.
The episode itself left me some questions, but overall it was pretty enjoyable. James Gunn barely did anything and was just there for the character appearance, but I liked his character. Jerry was a moron in this episode, but more than usual honestly. Jerry is my favorite character, but in this episode he is just so stupid. You're telling me he got tricked by a fake girl voice believing it was his wife?? You're kidding.
The main plot was actually really fun. Morty getting a daughter or whatever was funny and Rick teaming up with the Robo Trees was unexpected. He even started to like the comic relief character toward the end, which was a nice change for the Rick we know. I'll edit this review in the future but overall this was a good episode.
7/10.

The whole episode revolves around references to the american pop figures of Hollywood. It's like the worst of all Bojack Horseman moments condensed in 20 minutes of a completly different series.
Remember all times that "science fiction" forget the "science" part? It wasn't worse than each time the troupe of "science=magic" appears during the episode. The writters aren't getting lazier: they are just hiring people that doesn't understand the original series and start to write a post-20th-season of Simpsons episode but changing the characters. It's the same feeling.
Rick and Morty is having great episodes from time to time, but the bad ones, like this one, are really bad.

This season can be summed up in one word: mediocre. It lacks the wow factor that defined the first four seasons of the show. While this episode wasn't bad. The concept was actually quite interesting. It just missed that final touch to make it truly memorable. The season as a whole is filled with episodes that are simply average, and that's honestly disappointing. The creators really need to take a step back and reflect on what made the show great in the first place. That said, I still have faith that they can bring the magic back in future seasons. On a positive note, I do think the voice acting this season is actually better than the previous season.
Season 8 so far is only going downhill, the very first episode is the only one of the season that had somewhat classic rick and morty material, the rest very forgettable episodes and are not good at all. This episode is nothing different, I ended it midway coz I got bored! Something I never did before in a rick and morty watch! No story, just random sketches of unfunny material. Please creators go back to your roots and save this gem of animation, stop doing these silly episodes. I will not give up on rick and morty, at least not yet and am sure the rest of the season will at least have 1 or 2 more episodes other than the first, that redeem this mess.

- TriviaWhen Rick loads Gunn's script into the Movie-lizer it says that the script was written by Alan Smithtree at 3:33. This is a Rick and Morty-style parody of 'Alan Smithee', a name directors use when they do not wish to have their own name attached to a bad project.
