This was the best episode in this season and one of the best in the whole series. When I watched this season I missed the old Rick and Morty in every episode, after seeing this episode I feel like I got the old real Rick and Morty, this episode was great, hope they make more episodes like this need back the real Rick and Morty.
When it gets serious, this show is the best. All the emotions run through your body, you can't believe your eyes, and after all it has a way of doing things in unbelievably short time. Even when it's not canon, like Vat Of Acid it delivers a heart breaking, or mind blowing story in couple of minutes. This episode, and the fear hole episode, solaricks, and of course Evil Morty electing president. These episodes are the reason that this show deserved every emmy it got. Rest of the season was fun, but this one was special. Few shows can touch your heart and mind at the same time. I never thought i would feel sad for an animated scientist. But here we are. Thank you Dan Harmon. And you too Justin.
I wrote a review a couple of seasons ago stating that this show is declining; I literally said, "Save Rick and Morty!"
The show has started to decline, and now it is simply "not as great" as it was, which we knew from the first few seasons.
I think now everyone agrees that this season was the worst of all (the ratings prove this).
But this season finale, just like the last season finale (season 7) was one of the greatest episodes of R&M so far.
My point is, they still can do it, if only they put as much effort as these great episodes!
The episode was fantastic, the ideas were new, and it was emotionally engaging as well. I say no more, it was just perfect TV!

The finale of the 8th season is superb, as it has been in the past. Not only does it deliver a story as multi-layered and meaningful as the previous excellence, such as Ep10S7, but it also presents the complex and well-developed relationships among Rick, Memory Rick, Beth, and Diane so well in a way that makes me want to extend this episode into a 2-hour movie.
With all due respect, after a season of mediocracy, at least the very majority of the first 9 episodes, the great work of the season finale makes me so excited to see R&M is getting back on top. Great episode!

"Don't dwell on past regrets-the future ahead may offer a different kind of healing."
In this season, we witnessed Rick gaining something deeply real in his present life: a richer, more profound connection with his family. And in the finale, his younger self finally found true love-completing, in a way, a different kind of wholeness.
Sometimes, letting go and looking to the future isn't such a bad thing. Yet too many people stay trapped in the past, lost in memories, unable to move forward. That's why it's been so rewarding to see Rick's growth this season.
That said, I can't help but wonder-what new direction will Season 9 take? Here's hoping the writers continue to craft meaningful, powerful stories that keep us all invested.
