Yang Zhen has Zang Hai check the Treasury inventory list another time to test him and, partially, as a punishment for standing out. While there, Zang Hai runs into the Marquis's second son, Zhuang Zhi Xing, who was stealing from the Treasury. Zhi Xing soon kicks Zang Hai out, regardless of his task completion. Zang Hai re-did the inventory list, taking special attention to items the Marquis might take interest in. For those, he included the object's history and a drawing. With that, he regained the Marquis's attention. The Marquis went so far as to tell Yang Zhen that Zang Hai would be a good person to share his burden one day, inadvertently stoking Yang Zhen's biggest fear.
