Zang Hai is commanded to volunteer to be buried alive along with the Dowager Empress. He joins a group of men who were also asked to volunteer and whose families will be compensated, after Chu Huai Ming gets his cut. Once inside, he discourage the men to drink the wine and instead talked of getting out and stopping the practice of live burials altogether. One of them recalled where the kill switch was located. Unfortunately, Chu Huai Ming had a trap set for them which made the switch almost impossible to reach. The kill switch stopped the Dragon door from falling and Zang Hai was almost to the outside when guards with arrows greeted him. He said that the door would only start falling again if he reaches outside alive. But, since someone with the right birth date still needs to be inside, he named the person who matched the description and was sent in so he could leave.
