The authorities became painfully aware that the man who was killed at Stockwell station was innocent, and that the young Portuguese man who was killed was a victim of misidentification.
First off, the killing of that poor man was diabolical; it's no wonder there was a huge reprisal. He must have been absolutely terrified. The admissions here were very revealing and quite shocking; it should never have happened.
Nothing was done about Abu Hamza for a long time, as if the authorities were frightened to take action. It's chilling to imagine how he warped young minds with a twisted form of extremism.
I have to make this point: do some people wish that no action had been taken, that the terrorists were just allowed to do whatever the hell they wanted? It's just plain wrong. What about the human rights of the innocent people who were killed in the attacks?
The police were placed in an impossible situation. They messed up, but after what had happened, you can understand why they were on edge.
I wish more had been said in condemnation of the four men; they were the murderers.
6/10.
