Don't be fooled by the name, "The Fixer" is literally "The Profit" with one tiny twist.
Just like "The Profit", Marcus spends some amount of time with business owners and ultimately decides if he wants to invest in them or not. The only addition "The Fixer" adds is that at the beginning of the episode Marcus "interviews" 3 potential clients and then decides which one to pursue further. He never actually told any of the entrepreneurs that he's deciding between multiple partners, which I thought was weird and will probably make some of these people second guess their choices after the program aired.
The biggest problem with this series is definitely Marcus himself. He speaks about these people's businesses as if he doesn't realize they have an emotional connection to them, then is somehow flabbergasted when they act insulted by his words. I've watched 6 of the 10 episodes as of this review and Marcus hasn't gotten to the point of being a partial owner with any of them with the exception of small side deals, mostly because I think a lot of these people just don't want to do business with him anymore once they get to know him.
Marcus continually talks about the importance of good business relationships with people and then just repeatedly proves he has zero people skills in this series.
My guess is this show was supposed to be another season of "The Profit", but the ongoing lawsuit between Marcus and some of the people from that show (look it up) caused him to repackage it under a different name going forward, hence the new name "The Fixer".
It's not a good sign that this series was dumped in late July / early August ( tv graveyard) and that the episodes are being aired 2 at a time. That screams "dumping" by the network because they knew this series was a stinker.

That's where this guy came from -- selling RVS. And somehow he got a tv show, guess how? By insulting everyone he comes across. If this entertainment in the 21st century then I hope this POS gets cancelled immediately.
And if you see "Marcus" in public, don't be afraid to call him out for the fraud he is.

I can't really put my finger on it exactly, but this show isn't as good as The Profit.
First, the good things. I like the continued amount of business terms and explanations along with examples that are given when Marcus brings up different concepts.
I like the "Shark Tank" sort of intro to the show where you get to see usually 2-3 or so businesses that pitch their business as an investment.
I also do like that some of the episodes don't always have deals get made in the end. I feel like that is more real than just only airing the episodes where things go "right" and deals get made.
Now, for the things I didn't like as much. First off, the OBVIOUS product placement that feels like a YouTuber's ad read that Marcus always places in each episode. QuickBooks, Zip Recruiter, and SalesForce have all been mentioned and it's done in the most obvious way that it's an ad read, but Marcus tries to work it into a "conversation" that sounds so scripted (and it probably is).
Next, the production value seems a little lower than the Profit. Additionally, while I liked seeing other businesses shown at the beginning of the episode, it seems like most businesses are largely just centered around NY and NJ with a few exceptions. I guess it's simpler and saves money to do that, but it would be nice if they would go to other places in the country like in The Profit.
These of course aren't major gripes or cons, but they still are disappointing and/or annoying.
So, overall, still a great show, just not as good as The Profit (as of episode 6).
Lastly, I feel like I need to mention another reviews' critique of Marcus and attempt to defend him a bit here. Another reviewer claimed Marcus is rude and not easy to work with and that's why many times deals didn't get made. Now, I'm not claiming Marcus is by any means perfect, BUT I've not seen him be "rude" a lot of times, just BLUNT. He tells people NOT what they want to hear, but what they NEED to hear. Most of the issues with the business owners were the owners themselves refusing to take ANY form of constructive criticism without being incredibly offended. Marcus could simply say something like "I don't like this. I think we need to fix this and improve this process for your product." And they'll scoff at him and refuse to even try and understand where he's coming from.
Again, great show overall, but I thought I should counter a different review because I feel that that reviewer's assessment of why the deals didn't always get made was way off from what really was the case.
