Interesting story, nice documentary
The twist at the end was quite something. The person concerned should never be allowed near another in her lifetime, so wicked and evil are their deeds.
The only problem I had was the 'first messages'. We all know who started this and yet the law and the documentary makers let her slide off the hook when it could have been proven beyond all doubt.
Well worth a watch though.

Needed Expert Insight
I recommend watching thus documentary. However, it was irresponsible to show the perpetrator's deranged attempts at victimization and justification without having an expert in psychology chiming in about this behavior. It is insane the perpetrator didn't get more jail time given the content of the texts.
When storytelling overshadows responsibility
Unknown Number unfolds with a pacing that feels carefully measured: each revelation arrives at just the right time, keeping the audience engaged without slipping into sensationalism or dragging its feet. The story's structure is one of the documentary's strongest achievements, sustaining tension while steadily deepening the mystery.
Yet the film stumbles in key areas. Most notably, it gives the perpetrator far too much space, allowing their voice to dominate without sufficient critical framing. This imbalance is compounded by the absence of a deeper psychological perspective, which could have provided crucial context for understanding the behavior and its broader implications. Instead, viewers are left with raw testimony that at times feels more like a platform than an examination.
By downplaying analysis in favor of dramatic storytelling, Unknown Number risks prioritizing shock value over insight. While it succeeds in keeping audiences hooked, its reluctance to interrogate the subject matter leaves the narrative feeling incomplete.
The result is a documentary that is compelling in rhythm and atmosphere, but ultimately weaker in responsibility and depth. Above all, it is difficult not to feel deep sympathy for all those affected by the events, people whose experiences deserved a more thoughtful and nuanced exploration than the film delivers.

I did NOT see that coming!!!
Wow! I did not expect the person to be that person until the very second it was confirmed!
What a crazy story, like insanity-level crazy!
I don't want to spoil so i'm not going to say who it is, but let me say this:
The person is a very sick individual. I truly believe that the person should not under any circumstances be around children, ever. The person seems to be a narcissist, possibly on the level of psycopathy. It's a dangerous person, and if I was living in that town, I would avoid the person every single way possible.
The victims in this story, I really feel for them. This consumed a large portion of their youth and clouded days that should have been bright. I'm so glad that it didn't break the victims entirely and caused them to commit suicide or something because that could have become a very real consequence of the almost TWO YEARS of constant harassment and bullying. I hope they can trust people again and that this doesn't cause them to question every person who they get close to. I hope they heal and overcome this crazy ordeal! Thank god for FBI and for them being able to uncover the truth.

An interesting documentary, but it leaves too many questions.
This documentary is about the vulgar and aggressive harassment of a teenage couple, and later others.
The film could have even received 10 stars because it addresses an important and current issue, but unfortunately, many questions remain after its release.
I won't say who the perpetrator was (many people have already mentioned that in their reviews), so it's no mystery. Besides the perpetrator, a few other surprising things about this case are: 1. Anyone with any knowledge of computers (and I'm not talking about programming skills, but the basic knowledge of networking, like a smart high school student setting up a router in their home) would have started this case by checking the internet gateway and the sender's IP address. In this case, even though the kids received dozens of vulgar threats daily, the IP address was checked after... 18 months. :0 Doesn't it occur to anyone in every cyberbullying case to do what should be routine procedure? Do such procedures even exist?
2. How can a perpetrator pretend to work for at least a year without the perpetrator's family realizing that the perpetrator has neither a job nor an income? :0 3. The film explains that the perpetrator is prohibited from contacting the victim, but it doesn't provide any information about whether the perpetrator has received psychiatric treatment.
Considering that viewers were shocked to discover who the perpetrator was, it's understandable that the filmmakers focused primarily on this aspect. However, this film begs to be answered.
