Mental illness affects so many individuals and families. The Peagler family was incredibly transparent telling their story of how mental illness affected each member of their family.

The question the movie raises is the relationship between mental illness and demonic influence on our lives.

Our modern culture ignores demonic influence. We are much more open to calling mental illness a psychological problem.

This movie allows the possibility that mental illness needs to be addressed both as a psychological and a spiritual problem.

Satan, Get Thee Behind Me is a powerful and candid narrative of the Peagler family's fight against mental illness and evil spirits. The film describes in great detail the struggles and challenges of demonic possession within the family and the spiritual weapons they used to overcome them. Travis and his family are very transparent in describing these deeply personal events and their story should be used as a example of how we can confront similar evils within our own lives. If there is one thing I learned from this film, it is to not cower in fear when facing evil spirits; but to stand up to them, to put on the armor of God and be strong while standing against them. I recommend all families watch this film, as this message is one that we all need to receive.

This was an excellent documentary that focused on mental health especially in black families where mental health is not talked about enough. I commend Travis and his family for sharing their story. There are a lot of families today that believe "what happens at home, stays at home" and are suffering but to embarrass to seek help. I am an educator and I see more and more of mental illness and it's definitely not talked about as much as it should be.

I had the pleasure of being able to see this in the theater. It is one of those topics that we don't talk about enough mental health versus Christianity,/mental health,/Christianity, we need more documentaries like this in our lives. There's a raw honest truth. That makes you question some things pray for others. Very well put together illustrations, and the way the story is told you will recognize somebody in this film. You will think about life after watching this one 10 out of 10 recommend.

Travis and his family are brave and inspirational. Unlike most of us, they as a family share the darkest recesses of their collective trauma, their pain, their hope, and their healing. A good reminder that every family carries their pain and trauma in hiding but no one is truly alone. Attempting to exit the cycle but often repeating the misery. The Peaglers had enough and opted for another journey to exit the darkness. By sharing their recovery in faith, values, beliefs, actions, and attitudes.

It would be easy to look at this documentary as a faith-based journey. That is only a small part of the story. Values, determination, and perseverance is their story. Strong reminders that regardless of what anyone believes, the journey to healing is walk towards the light and never a sprint into the darkness. And they share it. Raw. Unadulterated. Loving.

I am proud of Travis and his family for having courage to share their story. Our community and the world needs more of this brutal honesty and inspiration. We are in this together. And we are not enemies. Travis and his family are great reminders of that.
