⭐ 9/10 Shodha is a fast-paced Kannada thriller with a gripping storyline and excellent performances, especially from Pawan Kumar and Siri Ravikumar. The suspense and visuals keep you engaged throughout, and the emotional layers add depth. Despite a slightly predictable ending, it stands out as one of the most engaging Kannada web series in recent times.

Upon watching the trailer for the new series, there was immediate suspicion that it might be a remake. After viewing episode 1, this was confirmed, and subsequent online searches revealed that it is indeed a remake of the 2024 Hindi web series "Khoj - Parchaiyo Ke Uss Paar," which has an IMDb rating around 4.7. It is surprising that Pawan Kumar chose to take on the acting lead for this project; while he is a talented filmmaker, his performance in this series feels restrained and lacks the emotional depth required by the narrative. The show makes some improvements over the original but ultimately struggles due to weak casting and hurried storytelling, making it feel like a missed opportunity.

This is a remake of the 2024 ZEE5 original Khoj, with a few tweaks in the storyline. For those who have not watched the original, this version may appear fresh, but in reality, it struggles to justify its originality.

Where Khoj thrived on Sharib Hashmi's nuanced and natural performance, the remake falters. Pawan Kumar, despite his earnest effort, fails to bring the same emotional depth to his role. His portrayal often feels restrained, leaving pivotal moments without the weight they demand. Siri Ravikumar has done some justice to her character, but doesn't leave any impact either. None of the other supporting cast members rise to the occasion either making the overall casting one of the weakest aspects of the series.

The format also works against it. With each episode running under 20 minutes, the narrative rarely gets the breathing space needed to build emotional resonance. Scenes that could have lingered and left an impact are hurried along, reducing their effectiveness.

Overall, while the remake has its moments, it feels like a missed opportunity. A stronger cast and more room for storytelling depth might have elevated it beyond a passable watch.

Pawan Kumar is a good director, he should not indulge in such roles. No expressions, Poorest acting, weak plot. Remake of an already poor rated show Khoj. The team cannot even do the dubbing properly, lipsync issues throughout. None of the actors suited their roles except the one who played the inspector.
